Crib notes taken from FB. Warmachine 5k announced for release at Lock & Load 2020! Announcement at 48:38 here: www.twitch.tv/videos/442207515In the 5,000 years since the Infernal invasion, humanity has gone to the stars, spread across the galaxy, and messed it up. Now things are getting grimdark. What we know about the game so far: sci-fi, no magic, new type of mechanika no space elves, it's not just WM in space make your own warcaster loadout your jacks with weapons 40k style "there's a lot of other differences" most units have 3-5 models you'll have 20-30 models on the table "feels like a duel between two warcasters" everything could have mechanika that your warcaster could influence, including weapons on units plays much faster you will recognize some mechanics from WM fantasy. Thats all we know for now. Thoughts etc here.

What I want to say is, "We've heard all that before." We'll see if it all sticks by launch and 5 years from now.
That being said, I've long thought a Warmachine meets X-Com game would make a killing, and I though Level 7 would be that. Maybe this one will.

For me it sounds like death throes.

Well I'm pro customizability, so "make your own warcaster" interests me a lot.

Warmachine 40k, no magic is weird and going away from the specific character Warcaster is also weird. I hope it will be really exciting tough!

I'm hoping for something fun, new, interesting, and different. I do have concerns about extensive customization, though. I worked on Champions Online, and that was a perfect example of bad design.

For me it sounds like death throes. Undertaking and executing multi-year business plans and launching new products. Yep, that definitely sounds like a business in trouble. ...HE SAID, DRIPPING WITH SARCASM.

After thinking about this, it just feels very much like 40k. Customizable stuff, something xk years in a grim dark future, alternative SciFi setting of the same named fantasy setting, that is at the same time also seeing its own apocalypse. That is the 'meh' part.
Then after another while I am now starting to get really excited! Low model count Sci-fi tabletop from a developer that actually has a decent take on game balance? That could actually be amazing!I am very much waiting for the first model impressions!

It obviously can't keep the steampunk look, so I hope it won't just be cyriss in space or generic space stuff. Ideally, it'd keep the immoren look, but defining that is a bit tricky.

I'll decide if I like this or not based on models and rules.
Based on announcement alone it's better than releasing more gamebreaking and money-grabbing crap for wmh.

The “Neo-Mechanika” makes me think the game will be leaning towards a “cyberpunk” type of game. Makes sense if almost everything is customizable. And seeing as “Cyberpunk 2077” is launching 2020 they will be in a prime position to capitalize on the market. I had mixed feelings when I read the reveal, but am starting to get excited. Just my own observation: remember, WM also started as a small model-count skirmish game.

no space elves, it's not just WM most units have 3-5 models you'll have 20-30 models on the table "feels like a duel between two warcasters" plays much faster Sounds mostly like warmachine when it first started, minus the customisation. I feel like they should go a different scale and just get rid of units altogether, something closer to adeptus titanicus. 20-30 models is still way too much and cuts too close to what WM originally was until it bloated into what it is today.

Which is why I said, "We've heard all that before."
If they can keep units to being 3-5, they MIGHT be able to keep the model count down.
Of course, we don't know if there will be Warcaster Points for the new mecha or whatever, but then, Warmachine didn't either for the first few years.
