With Miniature Market having its Focus & Fury Sale this weekend, I have the opportunity to acquire a new unit for my stable.
Current units I have: Steelhead box (unbuilt) Nyss Hunters (middle of being built) Kayazy Assassins 2x Kayazy Eliminators
Current Warcasters I have: Magnus 1 & 2 MacBain Crosse Ashlynn Damiano (on the order list) Fiona (on the order list)
I'm looking at a box of: Steelhead Riflemen (I think they're metal since no Halbs). Steelhead Heavy Cavalry (best overall value, and I already have Brocker). Trencher Infantry box Idrian Skirmishers Box
Metal Riflemen would be nice to give me a dedicated range unit. I also live in the Phoenix, AZ, area, so avoiding heat warping is a consideration. I also like a Combined Arms approach, and I can use them with the Kayazy or push them in to Kingmaker's with no difficulties.
Heavy Cavalry will be a pain to paint since they (or Brocker) would be the first Cavalry I've painted. However, having the Steelhead box for them to make Halberdiers out of will make some good use for them and allow Brocker to be more than just a combat solo in my stable.
I like the look of the Trenchers, and have considered going Cygnar because of them, but I can't seem to leave the 3 M's. However, I can use them in two Themes here, but is it worth it when I can build up my Steelheads more, especially when I can't use most of my units with them?
I like the Idrians, too, but they are of far more questionable use with what I have. While they can easily be used with my Kayazy and Nyss Hunters, can they be used in Resistance? If so, worth it over the above?
Thoughts would be helpful.

Idrians cannot be used in LR.

Idrians cannot be used in LR. Well that sucks. Because they only become Protectorate with a Protectorate Warcaster, right?

If Idrians are in a PoM list, they become a PoM unit.

I would say trenchers are good if you plan to play Ashlynn LR or a Kingmaker list. But even then... Ashlynn prob does even better with Rocketmen, and Kingmaker doesn't seem that much better than the Steelhead theme.
I bought trencher longgunners from the sale, but I have no idea where I'm going to use them.

I live in Surprise, but I used to live in E Mesa. I can't get to Imperial Outpost very often because traffic sucks and family things happen on Friday. It's even worse trying to get to Games U on Wednesdays now because traffic through downtown Phoenix really sucks if you aren't going around lunch or really late. It might get a little better now that school is out for summer, but no guarantees.
The last time I was able to play was right around when the Valley-wide JML happened and someone went against my Magnus BB with the Circle one. I was able to get the Halberdiers box from IO's Gamer Garage for a song. Sadly, my game time is incredibly poor, never really having played beyond the BB level, even when I could get to Empire Games or Games U easily.

I would definitely go for Idrians, they make it into every Irregulars list I make

I enjoy the idrians quite a bit, but new steelhead is super good. Go on, do it. Splurge. Get two units. No one will ever know. Get you some heavy cav. Get some idrians. They are cheap. Give your will over to the sale. Buy trenchers. Faction hop into cygnar.

Smelling isn't hard here. In the summer (and most late springs) you can be sweating like an athlete just going from the car to the store!

I’m tempted by the steelhead cav too: anyone got a good list core?
Do I need 2 units of cav? And how many halbs?
