In light of the recent Dev Talk spoilers about Jaws of the Wolf, what lists do you plan to build with Karchev? You don't *have* to bring 100 points of jacks to get your freebies, but you can't get 4 freebies anymore. Free Eliminators sound good though. I still plan to play him in Wolves of Winter... But this new Jaws is certainly better than the old Jaws for Karchev. The theme benefits are useful, and since he can give himself Pathfinder he's not inconvenienced by the forest much. The Requisition change is an absolute godsend, though. Obviously Karchev is still going to be taking a lot of jacks, but he's now got more freedom for support options. Kayazy Eliminators are going to be pretty prevalent in these Jaws lists; I can't imagine not taking two units, as they're the best free option by a mile. But I reckon Widowmakers, and perhaps the Marksman, also become extremely good shouts. They are great as charge lane clearers and RtW triggermen, and now they don't eat into your freebies. I'd also take Kossites. But that's because I am utterly biased and I love them, as opposed to any sensible tactical consideration!

This was my first thought.
Khador - Karchev - Oblivion Karchev the Terrible - WJ: +30 - Greylord Adjunct - PC: 4 - Devastator - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 14) - Destroyer - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 14) - Juggernaut - PC: 13 (Battlegroup Points Used: 2) - Juggernaut - PC: 13 - Marauder - PC: 11 - Marauder - PC: 11 - Marauder - PC: 11
Kovnik Apprentice Kratikoff - PC: 4 - Rager - PC: 10 Yuri the Axe - PC: 0
Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5/0 Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5/0
And this was my second thought - focusing on improving the scenario game by bringing Malakov as an independent threat unit with a Pathfinding POW 21 jack (sorry Kodiak...I don’t need you now) with some battle mechanic shield guards to hold a zone. Ambushing kossites who can see through a forest for only 6 points seem worth a try.
Overall, this second list feels like quite a lot of “stuff”, when normally my Karchev lists feel either a bit thin or one dimensional. 4 Marauders, 2 Juggernauts and a Destroyer feel quite adequate in terms of military hardware given all the support, some of which is quite hard hitting, in the list.
Khador - Karchev - Oblivion 2 Karchev the Terrible - WJ: +30 - Greylord Adjunct - PC: 4 - Destroyer - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 14) - Juggernaut - PC: 13 (Battlegroup Points Used: 13) - Marauder - PC: 11 (Battlegroup Points Used: 3) - Marauder - PC: 11 - Marauder - PC: 11
Kovnik Apprentice Kratikoff - PC: 4 - Marauder - PC: 11 Kovnik Andrei Malakov - PC: 4 - Juggernaut - PC: 13 Yuri the Axe - PC: 0
Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5 Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5 Kossite Woodsmen - Leader & 5 Grunts: 7 Battle Mechaniks - Leader & 3 Grunts: 3

Question about Yuri, is he really worth it? Over say a Widowmaker marksman? I know he's technically 6 points, but lets not kid ourselves, he's no lord of the feast. I've learned to like the marksman for his ability to still do work even while camping flags, something Yuri doesn't really do all that well. Before he was nice for the pathfinder aspect that was lacking in the list, but now with all the jacks getting pathfinder, I'm not so sure about his place in the list. The eliminators are great though, they can score zone and their def is high enough that if usually require commitement to kill them, this is not true of Yuri with his 14/14 statline.

Who knows? Maybe Yuri got some buffs. Wouldn’t it be nice if the first model sculpted with bear traps actually picked up Trapper? Or if such a famous manhunter was able to actually kill his targets, say by picking up Take Down?

Question about Yuri, is he really worth it? Over say a Widowmaker marksman? Probably not with Karchev. Not only does Karchev not do anything for Yuri, the Marksman can be a good Road to War trigger.
But I'd file Yuri under interesting for the interaction between the theme forest and his Tree Walker ability. Having somewhere to hide Yuri and 2 Manhunters before they dash out to do a fair bit of damage (and then die on the counter) doesn't sound like a bad plan. But only with casters who can really exploit their hitting power. Butcher1 (feat) or Vlad1 (S&P) seem like they might like this as an option. Maybe Strakhov1 for the speed buff too?

I think they missed an opportunity to make 2 Manhunters equal to 1 requisition point. That would make them worth taking. There have been forests for all of MK3. A lot of them. People aren’t reaching for free Manhunters and two of them are still not worth 8 points just because you have an extra 5” AOE forest completely within 18” of your back table edge. Your free points are better spent elsewhere, so those Manhunters are costing you 8 real points.

I don't think he's worth it, not with Eliminators as an option now. My list would be double Seers and Yuri, now it will be double Eliminators and a Seer (and paying 4 points for the second seer), I think it's a net gain.
