Latest from todays PP dev.chat on twitch. CID will take a break after the next one ( steamroller 2019).
Unclear for how long.
The dev. will focus more on monsterapoc. and riot quest

The dev. will focus more on monsterapoc. and riot quest I hope they slow it down to 3-4 CIDs a year. My group has been suffering from rules change whiplash really badly lately.

They said CID would take a significant break. Whatever that is. No new stuff in CID or legacy stuff in that period.

I think it's fine to hear they're taking a break since it's been somewhat draining and at times exasperating to follow. (Although I feel that Farrow needed a good long look at.) If they are focusing on Mon-poc and Riot quest... well I hope they enjoy the holiday.

That's like asking them to stop adding new releases to their miniature line. Ain't gonna happen. Now, you may not see the "preview" in beta form (CID), but you will get new models to play with at the same rate. Infernals and Oblivion will get us easily to October, after that we'll get new rules in the form of Riot Quest solos. Unless "Play Tester" is your actual day job, being on top of CID rules is a self inflicted torture. This "brake" will have zero impact on my games because I never bothered to be play testing non stop. So shrug I guess.

I worry about those dozens of riot quest models that won't go through CiD.
PP has been known to push solos by making them above the curve. Eilish and the Hermet in the early forms in CiD were crazy, just like the original Eiryss was.

Riot quest is garbage and I don't want it. Whatever, this is good, the dust needs to settle a bit IMO.

So far as I recall: he thinks it looks juvenile. Bear in mind: we know approximately zero about how it works! There’s a hex grid and miniatures and fighting over treasure, and that’s about the extent of public knowledge!

If i remember correctly we've only seen one model's rules (JAIMS) out of the ~30 models (mostly/all solos?). It'll be a ton of new mercs, new versions of a bunch of mercs (Eiryss4, Gorman2, Boomhowler2), and some faction/partisan solos as well (including a Storm Knight, Butcher4 as a doom reaver, and a Pyg Tank)

Riot Quest is going to add a bunch of cool new models to all the factions, and it sounds like they're going to be impactful (though I'd prefer it if they went through a CID, especially since they apparently have time). I'm not super interested in playing the game, but Chuck Dogwood and the Wolf with No Name have my attention as Warmachine models. Plus whatever other wacky stuff they come out with for Minions.

So, how sure are we that Chuck was not an April's Fools joke? I'm a bit hesitant to hear that the Warmachine versions of RiotQuest models might get released into the wild without going through CID. The only one we've seen so far is JAIMS I suppose, she seems fine, though powerful. If they're all of that caliber, then I'm good with it, but some might slip through the cracks. Or, for all we know, they will finalize the RiotQuest rules first, then do one big CID for the Warmachine versions. Time will tell.

JAIMS is generally acknowledged to be terrible, so there is that.... As for Chuck Dogwood, I have no idea. They've said on stream that he's a serious release, but that could certainly be an extended joke. Regardless, there's probably going to be some interesting models in there for everyone.

JAIMS is generally acknowledged to be terrible, so there is that.... She's not bad for a combat solo with 10,5" threat range with Acrobatics, P+S 11/13 WM and Grievous Wounds. Definitely not a game changer, but usable, especially in Convergence. Honestly, I'd prefer that models not going through CID are middle of the pack just to be safe, rather than over the top just because it's cool. While we're on the subject, was anything else said during the dev talk that was noteworthy?

Middle of the road combat solos dont get played without being the most expensive freebie available to a theme. Middle of the road Merc combat solos is an order of magnitutde worse because they usually cant be free, and are competing with models with real utility and impact JAIMS is really awful for that reason. If theyre all like jaims they may as well not be released
