Isnt that backwards to how most Cryx works? Collecting friendly souls? I thought they did away with that when people abused that with Asphyxious 2 and his march a unit of steel heads into his cloud trick to get all the souls. But I guess nothing else will be competing for the few souls then. Or is gather any souls? I guess we will see what the rule actually says later. He can gather any souls indeed, but you really need him fueled up before he goes in if you want him to get anything done. It's an expensive model after all. Honestly, these days I think it's silly that Cryx is one of the few factions still restricted to only using their own souls. Skorne players literally kill their own models for souls sometimes. If we want to use our own models as resources for our casters, why shouldn't we? We don't even have access to Direct Spirits, so it's already much more difficult.

You can always take a Merc unit to give it a supply of living friendly souls.

You can always take a Merc unit to give it a supply of living friendly souls. This is true, but I'm not sure Dark Host will be the theme to do that? Merc units don't synergize all that well in Cryx beyond utilizing debuffs just like anybody else. I could maybe see it with casters that like getting a unit of Mercs already, such as Scaverous. Any other lists you would see taking Mercs in?

You are right, it looks like a lot of fun with the movement shenanigans its capable of between its three attacks. You still need to be careful about being engaged or you lose the spray though if I read the card correctly, no gun fighter. But he is like a lord of the feast for Cryx...almost. I agree with your write up, he will be competing with stalkers for a lot of what he brings.

Thanks for the clarification, I should read the rules more completely. That makes him a lot more versatile.
