No Thrones, no Gargantua... Does anyone just run landsharks and angel spam? I keep looking at the Landshark chassis and get frustrated, longing for the days of mk2 where I could run mostly beasts and be fine.
Nowadays I look at Circle and think "they just do it better".
Part of the reason I ask is because I've got that 'what if' itch that has me wondering just what kind of singular theme buff could we give to Legion beasts to make them worth putting on the table. But before I start wish listing, I wanted to confirm that this really is an issue.

I’ve found that, for the most part, the landshark chassis is overpriced. It’s not as bad as the beginning on mkiii, when it was incredibly overpriced, but all of them could stand to drop another point. Angels are also very expensive for what they do. 17 is a lot to pay for an interesting heavy that, ultimately, cannot one-round a 10-point Jack.
Aside from the general cost issue, none of our themes really support a standard beast list. CotD doesn’t let you take non-character heavies and Ravens cuts out landsharks. PT doesn’t want many beasts. So basically, you have to play Oracles, a theme which, while providing free points, doesn’t actually provide a benefit for the heavies other than “you can take them.”
In summary, I could be way off, but I feel like the cost of the faction’s heavies needs to be revisited to more accurately reflect their performance, and that Legion needs an actual beast theme. Not sure what the benefit should be, but considering Cryx gets carapace of all of its heavies, I think it’s not unfair to ask for at least something.

Easy The moment they release proper rules and force us to use the amount of terrain coverage appropriate for a skirmishgame where you pay a lot for terrain related rules, they will be worth it.

So what you are saying is "No, there are no good regular ole beast lists"?

That is essentially the answer. Fyanna can run a good "heavies" list, but generally not using the landshark chassis.
Due to the relative cost of legion heavies without actually trading better (toolkits are nice, but not everything), even Abby2 doesn't seem to shine with the landsharks anymore, though I've had success using shredders with 1 or 2 landsharks(including proteus) bringing up the rear
Edit: Abby1 may be what you are looking for. I was testing out a list with proteus, Angelius, Neraph, seraph, and a bit more that i liked better than the garg lists with her due to greater options and volume of attacks. I wasn't able to bring it up to the level of my other lists, but it felt like there was potential there.

Feels like they aren't faster than other beasts, can't hit harder than other beasts, can't tank better than other beasts, really "anything" better than other beasts. Maybe if it weren't so relatively easy for other factions to circumvent cloud walls and stealth, but...
I have other wondered what would happen if they went back to spd 6

Fyanna's flying circus is the closest you're going to get. Seraph + Angel + Nightlurker + Bloodseer + Neraph x2, and some ice witches and/or the BFS. Fill in with whatever you like, probably Sorceress on Hellions.

Can people give examples of what they have tried since the CID for beast focused lists?
There has been a lot of focus on Primal Terrors and it makes me curious how thoroughly the other aspects of legion have actually been explored after the changes.

To the OPs original question. I have posted about it a couple times on here, but I enjoy Abby1 in a fairly traditional beast list. I have also been eyeing up Lylyth3 to try out in oracles.

Can people give examples of what they have tried since the CID for beast focused lists? I tried the list below a while back, under eThags in oracles. Not totally beast, bit I felt quite comfortable with it; it's ok-ish at many things, making it solid at being flexible (kinda). 20 typhon 18 carnivean 14 seraph 11 nephilim boltthrower 8 raek 7 ice witches 15 farrow briggands 4 farrow briggand UA 0 2x forsaken 3 3x spellmartyr If I had chosen and golab I would switch out everything but the first four beasts for those two and a freebee in terrors, see wha that does. Alas, I won't be getting them any time soon. Edit: I think I should get a throne in there instead of raek and the witches

Legion really suffers for not having an effective beater for an affordable price. We've got all the other stuff with cool bells and whistles, but not the baseline. The Neraph is fantastic, but not as a beater trying to take on a Marauder or whatever. Another problem is that we do (sort of) get a beast benefit in Oracles in the flying beasts usually having free charges, but the landsharks are the ones that are supposed to do the damage.
That said, I always run at least 1 beast heavy list. My current Lylyth3 list is:
L3 2x Carnivean 2x Angelius Seraph Nephilim Bolter Ice Witches 2x Shepherd 2x Sorceress Forsaken

This list is the result of more than two years of tinkering with Abby2:
Legion of Everblight - Abby2 minions 3 b
Theme: Oracles of Annihilation 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Absylonia, Daughter of Everblight - WB: +28 - Succubus - PC: 0 - Carnivean - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 18) - Proteus - PC: 19 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Ravagore - PC: 16 - Seraph - PC: 14 - Naga Nightlurker - PC: 8
Throne of Everblight - PC: 16
The Forsaken - PC: 0 The Forsaken - PC: 0 Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1 Gremlin Swarm - PC: 3
Farrow Valkyries - Leader & 2 Grunts: 8
THEME: Oracles of Annihilation
It does it's job well enough considering Legion issues and it's fun to play.
