So... I'm thrilled to be the first person to bring this up, so without further adieu.
OBLIVION BABY!!!
As a loyal son of the motherland I can't help but think that maybe the end of everything is actually a great place to begin. I'm a casual hobbyist and have been trying to figure out how to seduce my mtg buds into borrowing an army (either Khador or Circle) or just picking up a battle box for themselves. This whole campaign book deal sounds perfect for it and beginning at the end sort of feels appropriate, somehow...
Also that Devcast today! The talk of archons and theme forces got me stoked! I missed out on the magic that was Vlad3 in MKII with the pony army so now that it's coming back and with more options sounds even better. I like the duality of religions in the Iron Kingdoms so having a Thamar and Morrow army sounds epic too. Like take my money, love, and blood right now PP because I'm all in for this journey into the apocalypse. I wasn't even liking the idea of archons until now, but the sheer concept of a dark Thamarite angel with a bow was enough to bring me back. I don't know, I was scared about bringing Urcaen to Caen because I like a little more of a grounded setting, but this sort of feels more like Caen coming into Urcaen if that makes sense to anyone. (Lorebunnies back me up in this!)
Also Riot Quest...Riot Quest can go to hell if I'm being honest, but I don't think it's gonna really get in Warmahordes way either.
So what does everyone else feel or think? Ready or not for the Oblivion? Because I can't wait!

Warriors of the Old Faith piqued my interest, and Campaign book could be good, but with zero details it's hard to get excited.
Beyond that I couldn't care less. I've got all the Khador I need, so it's all just something happening in a different country to me!

I'm also pretty pumped for this release. Partly because I'm interested in Infernals as a second faction and partly because of all the stuff that's coming out for the other factions (i.e. Khador; albeit just the Archon or an updated Vlad 3 or any other Khador models). Seeing how Khador is my only faction right now, Oblivion offers something if I were to play Infernals (Hearts of Darkness) and also if I don't.
Seeing how armies-mix-and-match was a bad experience for me in my 40K days when allies got introduced, I am scared that the game will end up in a bad place. However, PP seems to limit the mixing and matching a lot so I hope it will turn out ok.
I hope they manage to balance the Archons. They have quite a unique feel to them and it would be weird somehow to see them in every army going forward, especially if they can be taken as a free choice in some themes (that's a lot of free points seeing how they are FA2 and 8-9 points each). The fact that they are FA2 is a bit odd to be too but hey...I dont write the fluff.
I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Khador/Menoth cav theme pans out. Cav is probably the thing I despise painting most so the theme will need to be very competitive before I decide to go that route, especially if I start Infernals.
If Hearts of Darkness with Khador turns out good I don't think I can resist starting Infernals. Seeing how heavy shooting lists is my most common match-up, I hope this doesn't end up being Infernals biggest weakness.

I love Morrowans, so that stuff is very exciting to me. The rest is interesting certainly.

I still think Vlad3 is terrible, what I find exciting about this theme is having access to the Menoth cavalry casters. And being able to mix in our cavalry models and battle engine possibly with some of the menoth stuff in there. We have only Vlad3 whom I don’t like, but looking on the menoth side of things, Kreoss3, Reznik2 and Feora3 might all bring something interesting. I know Feora3 is not that well liked in menoth but I thing having our battle engines in the mix might make her actually interesting with khador stuff.

I don't mean to be Mr. negativity, but this CID and infernals have been my least favorite things. Not a fan of cross faction themes, unnecessarily complicated especially for new players. Also sets a precedent that this is their new direction/idea for CIDs and im not that interested. There are plenty of existing themes that could use help.
I like narrative, but the game gets weird if narrative starts to drive progress. I don't look forward to seeing super powerful solos, especially if they turn out as good as the devs made them sound to be. Not making this into a circle chat/rant, look at brihgid & Caul and LOTF, which are 7/6 points and look at our drakhun at 9 points. Im worried that what PP now considers to be a balanced model at 9 points is going to be bonkers.
I do like narrative campaigns, so that's a solid positive!

This is the first I’m hearing of all this and I’m not really going to have time to listen to the podcast anytime soon, can anyone give a bullet point synopsis of what’s happening here? Is it just khador and menoth that can team up? Other factions? What are these archon things, etc?
I’m super excited for all this but don’t have a clue what’s going on, haha!

Basically, Thamar and Morrow stuck a deal with the Infernals 600 years ago, seeling the souls of 2 thirds of humanity to them in exchange for magic. Now Infernals are knocking and want the dept paid, but Morrow and Thamar are liek nah and all the other god are also like nah, get off out lawn punks, so they all send avatars down to caen to egt the Infenal punks of the lawn.
Also humins now banded together because they also want the infernals off their lawn so old fiath believers get togetehr is a cross faction theme for both khador and protectorate. Allowed casters are cavalry, units are cavalry and solos are cavalry (dunno if battleengines are also allowed). Alos, Morrowans and Thamarites now put their differneces aside and fight together in a merc theme. Allowed models are morrowans and thamarites and more old models will pick up the morrowan tag, such as stryker. So theoretically you should now be able to field a merc amy with constanze, precursurs ragman and alexia and hopefully it will not suck, because they will update constanze in cid.
Oh yeah, and the archones will be as follows: Menoth (tank with lots of flames), Morrow (dps gurl with spear), Thamar (assassin dude with bow), dhunia (support with pregnancy), primal (fookin mountain) and void (what the hell is this even who knows), so you can go on a raid with them in WOW, yay. They are all mercs/miniosn working and being partisans to different factions (Void works for Retribution, Cryx, CoC and Skorne).
Oh and they will bring heart of darkness back

I like fluff and all, but otherwise this sounds too complicated and unnecessary. There are alot they could do to already existing rules etc. instead.

It's also implied that Uhlans will be getting an update. With enough feedback we could definitely see Drakhuns come down a point now that they're directly competing with Champions of the order of the Wall. We could see some Khadorans pick up the Morrowan tag as well and end up playable in the Merc theme (this will not cause animosity with ragman or alexia though). Some corrections/additions on the archons: Morrow is more of a supporty melee tank, Thamar's is also female. Void is like a mega void spirit (visually: void spirit from the waist down, cyrissy construct thing from the waist up) which is disruption focused and likely has void walk. Hearts of Darkness will include one caster from each faction (it's sort of a what-if thing?). We know Khador's is a caster with only one full warcaster version, which means Karchev, Kozlov, Harkevich, or Malakov. I'd hope for Kozlov or Malakov out of that list, as they're not battlegroup casters and would actually be able to interact with the infernals in their army. Riot Quest is also going to introduce 30ish new models which sound interesting, such as Butcher4 as a doom reaver solo and oodles of new mercs (ie eiryss4, gorman2, boomhowler2, etc).

Sounds like End times to be honest. Not like End times for wmh is entirely a bad idea, I'd reboot a few things.
And nothing of this is any good for competitive side of the game of course.

It's also implied that Uhlans will be getting an update. Im not sure it was said uhlans would get an update or if they would just benefit from *changes* which could just be the theme. After having played against Long Riders this week with their sweet sweet slam i feel a little jealous. I really dont care for the 'MOAHR armour' approach that are supposed to make uhlans 'unique'.

I'm really glad they are returning to story driven development. This game was losing its identity fast by becoming steamrollermachine. If this is the way they're going with themes I definitely approve, but I hope they will keep the free points to a minimum. Free archeons still sound like a bad idea if they are 8-12 points.
