First and foremost, I've been a Cygnar player since starting Warmachine about 4 ish years ago in Mk2.
Since I was playing Mercnar in Mk2, and I've finally picked up some Merc warjacks as a part of a 2nd hand lot so I can actually field a full army (and played and won my first game with them yesterday ^_^ ).
But anyway, right now I'm playing some Ashlynn in Llaelese Resistance with the traditional Storm Lances and Trenchers, but in the long term I want to get into Protectorate as another force. What sort of PoM units go well in LR? And is Ashlynn still the best choice, or does Gastone2 offer some good tools for them instead?

Gastone is your caster for PoM units in LR. Ashlynn is much better with either rolling fog or Rocketmen spam. Gaston usually picks a unit of Cinerators with UA to put Dauntless Resolve on. Among tough, high arm, shield wall, mini feat, vengeance, pathfinder and reposition they can be delivered nicely in spite of speed 4. The second unit is either another full unit of Cinerators with ua or Vengers for threat projection, you then take Devil Doggos for Lifebound and knockdowns and the usual solos + hard hitting jacks.
You can engineer some kind of janky Caine or MacBian jack list with choir and/or Errands, but using your two restricted slots on support units is not a good idea, especially since it hurts your body count for scenario and your point threshold for free stuff, and you need troopers that do stuff, rather than make other stuff do stuff.

Gastone and zealots man. That's where it's at. A big unit of shield guards that have a minifeat of bringing everyone that died last turn back? It's awesome.

Quickened Cinerators are okay with Ashlynn. If you stack rhupert on them they are not that easy to shoot, and they move quite fast up the field. For funsies Flamebringers have crit grevious wounds for Ashlynn's feat turn.
But overall Gastonne seems to run them better because +3 arm of either Cinerators or Vengers is massive. Also Gastonne has access to many shield guards, which makes running Bastions possible as well. Having said that Ashylnn is an overall more effective caster, so while she may not run the PoM models as well she may still do okay.

As with everything Warmachine, which 'Caster is best largely depends on which PoM Theme you want to be looking to set up for the future, which defines which units you want to bring in.

anywho cinerators ar good with crasse2. asslynn don't run none of em particulary good and dont let nobody tell u to buy no zealots. dey dont kill squat and dats how u wins mostly

I was underwhelmed by Zealots with Gastonne 2, he doesn't have as much killing in his toolkit as you might think, so having that much dead weight was a real problem. Sorokin has the right of it; that is a list I would run happily.

Cheers, people.
I'm probably heading towards Faithful Masses with a somewhat mad Reznik1 list I've seen (Idrians die and movement shenanigans happen) and something with Exemplars as the other list (Because I want a completely over the top flaming orange armour paint scheme).
I'll muck around with an Ashlynn/Ossrum pairing for now, I reckon.
