A very nice and thorough article. Covers a lot of information including a couple of bits I'd been unaware of (specifically the retaliatory strike bit). The gallery section at the end was particularly nice to see and the game examples for how to use them were also helpful.
Since I can't help but offer some small critical observation when you talked about the decision to charge, to get the pistoleer benefit I remembered how gunfighter attacks can be made against target you are in melee with, not just things in their melee range. The consequence of this is that, depending on the target, gun mages without a speed buff have a 9.5" charge threat but up to a 8-9" walking gunfighter threat depending on the target. (Dependent on the melee range of the target, 8 for models with 2" reach and 9 for those with 3" melee range.) It's not a big deal but it a noteworthy thing for deciding how to move forward members of a unit who are more than a couple of inches ahead of the rest of the unit.

Thanks for the kind words Yeah you make a good point about walking into melee as well, perhaps I should have been more clear about it being only if you "need" the extra movement. I'm very aware of using the other players melee ranges against them its one of the great things about gunmages honestly. I will try to get in and edit it to be a little clearer in that regard. Thanks

Pretty nice little article, good read. Thanks for posting this. ATGMs have been one of my favorite units since... damn, honestly, probably since B&W Prime showed up on the shelf at the hobby shop. Minor criticism - there is something about the formatting here that makes it really hard to read for me, personally. I'm not sure if it's the centered justification or the combination of colors, but it's making my eyes cross.

I really like the article! I found it good to read in any case. Need to look up that gunfighter rule Do you make these on a regular basis?

So gunfighter is the screwiest rule set in the game.
1. A model with gun fighter can shoot at any model engaging it.
2. A gunfighter melee range is .5 if it does not have a melee weapon.
3. A charging gunfighter model must end movement with the target in its melee range.
4. If a model engaged by a gun fighter leaves its melee range it can make a free strike with its ranged weapon instead of its melee weapon.
5. A gunfighters ranged weapon can never gain the boosted damage roll from free strikes or charges when unsing its ranged weapon for charge or free strike attacks.

snoozer , just in case you missed it, there is a link to his Gunfighter article in the section where he lists their special rules. For the sake of easiness, here is the link to the gunfighter article LuckGod84 wrote up. luckgod84.blogspot.com/2017/12/gunfighter-explained.html onijet01, your summary is correct except for the last bullet point on free strikes. (Unless there has been a chance since I last looked it up.) The gunfighter rule specifically calls out charges as not getting boosted damage even they they can charge and make a gunfighter attack. The same section simply says that they can make free strikes with their ranged weapons. A section on free strikes currently says a free strikes receives +2 to the attack roll and boosted damage. It does not bother to specify melee attacks specifically in its description and the gunfighter rule does not say anything to contradict or overrule normal free strikes.

In mk2 gunfighter allowed you to make freestrikes, you got the boosted damage but not the +2 to hit, now in mk3 they get both. I've been using gunfighter models a long time so I made sure I knew the rules in case someone called me out on it in a tournament as its not something everyone knows
