With the fluff discussion recently (and how this is supposed to come into the new website) I think the announcement is giving some explanation on that topic. I am excited for the new website and hope that it actually is worthwhile spending some time on once it is finished

Looks to have some potential. I hope they integrate a "night mode" at some point, because the plain black on white is a bit much.

Is it just me, or has web design taken a giant dump on itself over the past five years or so? Maybe it looks okay on mobile or large-monitor desktops (I wouldn't know), but on a laptop this new Privateer Press site, like plenty of others these days, is exceedingly frustrating to read and navigate. There seems to some kind of a fetish these days for text that is way too big, surrounded by too much white space, embedded in layouts that are flashy but require way too much scrolling to navigate.
I guess the new Privateer Press site is still a work in progress. But Kotaku isn't, and it's a pretty good example of the terribleness I'm talking about. Ars Technica is decent, I guess.

Looking at the News page linked earlier in the thread on a fairly large monitor desktop, I think its frustrating to read and navigate, with too much scrolling to navigate.
So no, not just you.
It just looks messy, and trying to find the content you might be interested in is not especially easy.

Most web designers are just not all that creative, and just follow trends as a way to "modernise" everything. Thus, PP's new site now looks just like Steamforged's site, Wyrd's site, and any number of other sites. A bland menu across the top, large images, not much information, and often completely pointless CSS scrolling effects. The company I work for did a redesign of the company site and ended up with something just as generic. Great if your goal was to hear a company try to talk about how great it is, not so much if you were looking for actual information.

All I see on mobile is the L&L banner and half the community banner. And the menu up on top.
If this was designed with mobile in mind they need a major rethink, the old website was far superior.
