I got cheap company of iron starter set and now I have farrow Brigands. (now I just need to paint them and buy CA)
Are they any good for trolls? They seems to be not that bad with prey. Quite similar to Croak Riders, but bit different. Not shooting fire is big bonus.
PoD seem best theme as the theme lack good unit option. Kolgrima seems obvious caster to run them, with Cursed Fate. Grissel1 can give them Calamity so pow16 shooting versus prey. Not bad. Grim2 can do same with Mortality.

Played them a bit with Grim 1 in PoD and it was ...ok? That was before SotN even existed so the meta is very diferent...

I always take a unit in PoD. They are "good enough" and that's all I'll say in their defense.

RAT 7 POW 14 guns vs Prey target(s) is good. KSB/SSE can even help them vs Stealth/Incorp.
Repo 3 interaction with Dig In is not good. No range increasers from TB spells/Feats (eg. Grim2) means one turn of shots, then opposing melee-engagers will get 'em. No mini-Feat (seems every post CID unit gets one...) yet.
I have not fielded them in any TB Theme much, alas, they limit by reduction my 'free stuff' points.

I used them a little with Kolgrima in PoD but found I liked Nyss Hunters better. They're pretty okay but end up being a lot of points that I usually feel could be spent elsewhere

They have better base RAT and CRA for hard targets. Brigands seems better option for Grim2 and Grissel as those want better pow.

They are one of the most resilent and powerful and self sufficient ranged units you can afford. If you don't care for FF buffs they are always a solid choice.
And you know, FF Trollbloods ranged units are bad or somewhat lacking, or is not fulfill 'ranged' unit role actually. If you want a unit with gun, Brigands is the first option to have.

If they are "resilient" im assuming you are counting dig in. I argue that if they use dig in to qualify as resilient, they no longer qualify as a ranged unit, as they arent making attacks

Yep, they can't use Dig In and attack in the same activation, but they can attack&Reposition[3] in a same activation. Although they need something to hide behind of them in order to get the benefit.
Well, if there was something then they don't need Dig In to survive in the last turn, but at least they are hard to be neutralized before they are pull the trigger.
Also, you have some ways to pop smoke and Reposition makes them use it much easier.
Anyway, it is true that they are not expected to survive longer if they are exposed without Dig In. Tough won't save poor DEF 12 troopers without enough ARM to deflect POW 10 to 11.
