I want to get some practice in with the upcoming ADR.
Sounds like the themes are EI and FM. Casters will be Kreoss2, cyrenia, vindictus, sev2, and malekus.
I really like cyrenia but not sure what to run her in list-wise. Vindictus also seems like he’ll run either theme fine. Kreoss2 probably wants EI.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a shrine yet or plans to get one. What kind of cyrenia list do you think I should run and what would you pair it with? I’m mainly looking for a list pair that I can bring to local SR and play in our scrum leagues, grind some games with. What would be a fun, solid 2 list pair for champions that includes cyrenia?
Well I have this pairing. It meets your criteria and both lists compliment what the other lacks as a weakness. Please do note that both are simple generalist lists and learning to optimize them will take some time. Yet this is a effective and deceptively strong pairing for your criteria.
This list is a higher speed mid armor list. It is capable of both accurate melee and devastating second and 3rd wave combat. The Jacks in particular can be hard for opponents to manage as the Redeemer Hovers to leverage its inaccurate RNG 16 gun. The other two have Ashen Veil which ups their defense vs any model not using Eyeless Sight or Hunter. That allows them and easier approach. with the potential of Positive charge and Choir you can gain a potential +2 mat +4 damage on each Jack. to this end the Purifier is superior to the Dervish as it contains two chain weapons Giving your list and out to High armor models that rely on shield wall or shields.
The Warjacks need to be leveraged as a support piece used to optimize your post feat alpha. As you will most likely be taking a hard alpha to the chin. IF you can alpha however your feat will grant a second sudo Alpha to clean up whats left. This army requires a reactive player to optimize.
Protectorate Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Faithful Masses
[Malekus 1] Malekus, the Burning Truth [+30] - Eye of Truth - Revelator - Hierophant Deliverer Arms Master The Covenant of Menoth [0(4)] Choir of Menoth (min) Deliverer Sunburst Crew Deliverer Sunburst Crew Idrian Skirmishers (min) - Idrian Skirmisher Chieftain & Guide Idrian Skirmishers (min) - Idrian Skirmisher Chieftain & Guide Initiates of the Wall [0(7)]
This army is your hammer. There is no other way to state. This Build is meant to optimize the damage capability of Malekus 1. On your feat turn you should try to ignite as mush on fire as possible. While also Maximizing your range Damage. Use the Initiates of the Wall as a Anti charge Malekus. This will save his life. You have exceptional range damage in this list and Board control with the Revelator. It pairs better with Malekus than the Judicator does and is one of the few times i strongly recommend running it. Idrian Skirmishers can bring a good melee and range presence to the list as well and being a strong Armor Cracking force in later turns. Utilize Malekus's tool kit in this list as no spell is a waste. He has many outs and answers to hard questions.
That is my list pairing recommendation. This is based off a calculated risk into the new global Meta as well as personal Experiences playing in an unorthodox meta over the last year. My best advice is to always Look at the meta see how it has changed over the months, and years. Find how players shift their perceptions of what is good, and bad. Then finally change it starting with you.
I'm pretty down on the shrine to be honest. I just can't assume that the gun will do work with the stuff that I face, so I'm left to justify 14 points on the recursion. At that price, more dudes is better in nearly all cases.
Anything but Kroess 2 will give you some kind of different list for Cyrenia EI, be it malekus (above), Sev2 (jack heavy in either theme) or Vindictus (maybe in FM as some kind of scenario pressure list?).
Allegiant of the Order of the Fist - PC: 3 High Paladin Dartan Vilmon - PC: 6 Paladin of the Order of the Wall - PC: 4 Paladin of the Order of the Wall - PC: 4 Paladin of the Order of the Wall - PC: 4 Saxon Orrik - PC: 4 Wrack - PC: 1
An obvious disadvantage to leaving EI is that Cyrenia is the only battle plan target, but in return you get excellent protection from shooting (initiates), a better DEF skew from the feat, potential to layer 2 placable walls to block opponents models, and great judicator delivery (shield guards, monk and walls to block charges).
I also like the idea of paladins righteous vengeance with that feat, moving models into range to trigger the vengeance, and getting paladins up to 17" threat with great non-linearity.
