A couple of podcasts I've listened to recently have mentioned it and I've also seen the troll sub-forum put up something similar but I'd like to know what the viable caster spread is for Cygnar currently. What I mean by that is how many of our casters does the community feel are tournament viable. Also which ones are regarded as no good/need a complete overhaul? As means of gauging this I want people replying to this thread to list the 3 casters I would most expect to see/take to a tournament (not necessarily as a 3 list set, just which casters you most expect to see/take) and who do you think make up the bottom 3 casters in faction. I will update this first post with the results and from the numbers and spread we can hopefully get a reasonable idea about who's seen as being on top, who's in need of help and how wide/narrow the spread is. Mine for example are; Haley3, Siege2 and Stryker2 as the casters I most expect to see used in events. The casters I think are bottom of the barrel right now are Constance Blaize, Darius and Stryker3. Caster | Top 3 | Bottom 3 | Blaize1 |
| 9 | Brisbane1 | 2 |
| Brisbane2 | 8 |
| Caine1 |
|
| Caine2 |
| 1 | Caine3 |
|
| Darius1 |
| 3 | Haley1 |
|
| Haley2 |
|
| Haley3 | 9 |
| Jake2 |
|
| Kraye1 |
|
| Maddox1 |
|
| Nemo1 |
|
| Nemo2 |
| 4 | Nemo3 | 3 |
| Sloan1 | 2 |
| Stryker1 |
|
| Stryker2 | 3 |
| Stryker3 |
| 2 | Sturgis1 |
| 7 |

I would go with when naming the top three: Haley3, Stryker2 and Siege2 For the bottom part I say: Constanze, Sturgis and Darius

Top 3 : siege1 (because he is good into medium infantry), siege2 and haley3. (Stryker2 is a runner up close behind)
Bottom 3: Blaze, Sturgis, Darius ( could be several more)

Top: Haley3, Siege2, Nemo3 Bottom: Sturgis, Blaize, several others that are closely or on the same level. But I can't choose between them...

Thanks for the replies so far. I hope more people respond with their nominations but it's already painting a pretty stark picture.

Top 3: Haley3, Sloan, Siege2 Bot 3: Connie, Stryker3 Nemo 2, Caine2
I put Caine2 in the bottom because he just doesn't do his one cool thing well anymore and the rest of his kit is pretty meh. I've tried several games with him and he just doesn't do much besides try to shoot a solo or two and not die.
EDIT: Had to switch out Nemo2 for Stryker 3. I forgot how bad he was because he was my favorite caster in MK2 but he's just soooooo bad in MK3. Stryker 3 at the very least can be a decent jack caster with a sometimes useful feat.

Top: Haley3, Siege2, Nemo3 Bottom: Connie, Nemo2, Sturgis
As a few others have said Stryker2 or Siege1 could easily be in the top as well.
For my money, the bottom 3 are not only weak but boring. Not only do they lack versatility, but they're not even good at doing the things they want to be doing. For the same reason, I wouldn't put Darius, Caine2 or Stryker3 at the bottom; they're somewhere in the middle. Darius is actually moderately versatile, and suffers somewhat just because Heavy Metal is so lame. Caine2 is nerfed but he still functions. Stryker3 certainly isn't good (and has a lot of really awful matchups), but at least in his case when he's "living the dream", it actually does something.

I’m coming back after a hiatus and jumped on the cygnar train. We didn’t have anyone that really played them and guns sounded fun. I was wondering if someone could elaborate on why Haley2 isn’t up there? I’ve wanted to play her since Mk2 and just never did, I understand she was nerfed but she seems on par with Stryker2 to these noob eyes. I’m just looking for insight because there isn’t a whole lot of informational articles on Cygnar atm.

I’m just looking for insight because there isn’t a whole lot of informational articles on Cygnar atm. The short answer is that Haley 2 has always been rubish. Even back in MK2 (be honest here) players used her as a feat and telekabisis assasination closer. Not a single mk2 game i have seen with her was won by scenerio. In mk3 her feat is all but shut down (over killed because of player crying). So in the post mk2 era she brings very little to armies. A speedbuff and indirect damage buff. Telekanisis is not as good in a spell hate and huge base game (does affect battle engines but if thats your target...) And her feat is not even luke warm. Note: sorry everyone who likes haley. I personaly dislike haley thematically as a whole so veiw point is opinionated. P. S. In mkii any control caster was nearly an auto win

Onijet01, I feel your bias is showing a little too strongly there. I saw Haley2 win on scenario at least as much as I did see her win on assassination but it's kinda moot now. She's far from what she was many of her tools and tricks are gone leaving the people who used to excel with her to move on to other casters, factions and just play something else. lofton Haley2 isn't anything like as strong as she was and I haven't seen her played at all since the nerfs that knocked her feat and spell list. The changes by themselves hurt confidence and enthusiasm for people to play her, particularly since so many of her previous staples were no longer applicable. There is likely still game in her but I don't know. In Mk2 when she was almost all Cygnar ever seemed to play for tournaments I had no interest in playing her because of the hyperbole and reputation that shrouded her. At the start of Mk3 there was some curiosity for me to take a look but other casters have always held more interest and when the nerfs happened and she lost nearly all the power of her feat, much of the strength from her spell list and changes to what was being played into her, I just didn't see a reason to take a look. This shouldn't really be taken as a reason not to play her if you want to, just a warning that you'll have to find out for yourself what does and doesn't work as there is little to no material out there talking about how to play her in the game as it stands presently.

darkangeldentist yah i know i said i was bias. honestly in my meta at the time was all tk casters paird with colossal and hiper accurate elite shooting units But on a non-bias note. Haley 2 may be one of the factions better heavy metal casters. Temporal Acceleration can really overtune our warjacks. Though it is not pathfinder it is a +2 movement buff. As well as granting an extra attack. Statistically speaking it is almost the same as a free charge. Tk can help in hitting (but there is alot of spell hate right now) Force field helps to protect against judicator rockets and crucible guard aoe effects. And her feat is good into kiju and large battlegroup lists were model count is low
