Kallus2 is a good caster for another faction. One that has say, cheap effective fire application, independently hard hitting beasts that just want overrun, a spell slave to throw out battle lust, disposable high quantity dudes that value battle lust, and some mechanism of defending his fat butt.
He'd actually be quite strong in any hordes army except Legion. In Legion he doesn't work.

I still struggle with the whole "Archangel" and "best option" in the same sentence thing, without "not" anywhere How is it not required? Its the only thing in Legion that puts out fire (non-crit). You have the field marshall, K2's spell, and otherwise Zuriel's spray (K2 is the only caster I'd consider Zuriel with, in fact I'd go as far as saying it's his best beast option, and not for the spray) and Azrael's spears (another strong choice with K2). I've played with and against K2 mostly in children, quite a nice rounded list, and imho the best option to play him. Much support variety. I've never lacked something more to put stuff on fire. I'm not saying the AA is not a good/fun option with him, just certainly not "required". A friend of mine had success and fun with a PT list, with AA golab chosen hellmouths... I've played against it once. It's nice and fluffy. AA was immune to all my ranged due to blazing path. And I had 3 ravagores at the time so... let's say I enjoyed the game. I fear the children list more however. More tricks and treats. As for PT or children, I'd say in a competitive format today a lot of players are expecting to deal with stronger variants of PT, or other lists with the same challenges. Children is stronger in its category of lists, and with other factions moving somewhat away from mixed-arms list, it could be faring better. Also I've found fire-immunity and blood lust to be more valuable on swordmen or raptors than hellmouths and chosens. I'd try a list with vulturs but I just - can't - give - PP - 100 - more - bucks - for - grotesques - figures - I -already - bought - in - mk2... ahem. Anyway. For each his own, from what I've seen on the table, K2 is a fun and legionesque warlock to play. This is to be treasured considering our last releases. And the times to come. He's certainly not stable enough to be really competitive, and good opponents leave him with zero game. The PT list mentioned above is a treat to behold on the table. All the dragons ! (and the big chicken) The Children list is more fun to play in my taste.

A Kallus 1 / Kallus 2 Primal Terrors pair got to the finals of the Belgian Masters last weekend (lists are on DGI).
I don't play Legion myself, but I have played against this particular list. Chosen hit like a truck with Battle Lust and can screen Kallus if need be.
The Golab/Scythean/Raek battle group gives you access to some nice animi, particularly Sprint, so Kallus can "safely" trigger Overrun. Golab also gives access to anti-healing/RFP tech.
You don't really rely on the feat, but worst case you can Overrun and Jump the Raek to a target to set it on fire so Golab and/or the Scythean can finish it. The threat of it is good to keep your opponent honest.

I never thought of the Spell Martyr trick! That sounds really cool. Yea - it probably isn't going to be efficient for the feat but so many kudo's for finding that bit of tech! Oh man - if you could do that with all 3 Spell Martyrs at the same time, little suicidal blighted pyro's.
I keep saying this but I really wish the Teraph had straight up Continuous Fire.
I have a question on K2 with BB and Chosen... with the BB only able to spit out a single 5" ring of armor buff - do you find this enough to keep K2/Chosen safe as they run up to alpha? Does it depend on list?

I have a question on K2 with BB and Chosen... with the BB only able to spit out a single 5" ring of armor buff - do you find this enough to keep K2/Chosen safe as they run up to alpha? Does it depend on list? My opponent that played the list without Blightbringer says he's actually quite happy with that version. You don't have as many eggs in one basket and have multiple models that can get the jump on something on the feat. Chosen are quite durable against ranged attacks at ARM 17, 8 boxes, Tough and Rapid Healing, so unless they face something that has a higher melee threat range, they are mostly fine. If there is something that is faster, it probably doesn't threat farther than your battle group. On the actual Chosen + Blightbringer: in lists I've faced, one unit is usually in range of the BB itself while the other is in the AoE.

I mentioned this in another thread but it still stands here. Croak raiders are easily the cheapest and easiest way to apply fire for Kallus2's feat. AD, rat 6 range 10 spd 6 they should be able to get the alpha on pretty much anything they need to hit and at 10/16 they aren't too hard to work into a list.

I've been kicking around this list that I want to try out, mainly because I've inherited a 2nd unit of painted raptors. Kallus2 All the Cav conflictchamber.com/?ca201bg-kKaMkNbubbcoaYaYkJLegion Army - 75 / 75 points [Kallus 2] Kallus, Devastation of Everblight [+28] - Golab [17] - Raek [8] - Scythean [16] - Succubus [4] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Spell Martyr [1] Blighted Nyss Raptors (max) [18] Blighted Nyss Raptors (max) [18] Chosen of Everblight (max) [20] Flanking Raptors, chosen and beasts up the center. And since battle lust affects impact attack damage rolls, your opponent has to be careful with their front line placement or they could have some cav models opening big holes to their back lines. Could be fun, and I'm going to try and get it on a table sometime soon.
