So......
For a good 9 months or so I have been running Vlad2 with a Victor and then a unit of each MoWs, a Kovnik, and two Supression tankers to round things out. Solid list but I am finding that while it is a good jack of all trade list it suffers from going up against Huge base spam.
The inability of the DemoCorp to proc shatter to really crank the damage hurts. The new Retribution french breakfast roll and the Railless are each able to do decent damage to the DC or the Bombers. You have to put in at least 4-5 of the Man of Wars on Feat to one round a GarCol. You also have the Supreme Guardian.
And while assail is great 11 inch threat aint all that. Yesterday it was Imperatus getting the jump on Victor. Didn't one round him but did enough with Phoenix protocal still untriggered that it was "hard". Plus - and this seems more my meta than others - our guys have essentially all adopted the strategy, when they win the roll, of running hells bells up the field to hide behind the LOS blocking forest in the middle of the board. Since forests do not block LOS to victor....well....sad victor on top of 2. This also is an issue with support - people respecting the 20 inch gun so either staying back until Victor dead or using that Center board LOS to keep, for example, the Ret. Mechanics around.
Thus starting to think of modifying things to get in at least 2 mauraders. Points don't work out great but it would seem to offer more flexibility and definitely a greater threat to the huge base spam. Or perhaps time to put Vlad2 on the beach for a while and go with something that would scare such lists - such as Sorsha3 with some kodiaks and Mauraders.

Just run Irusk2 instead. Laugh at their pathetic attempts to hide in forests. Crank the damage whenever you please. Take a pair of Strike Tankers to punch holes in all things great and small whilst stopping Phoenix Protocol to boot. Get even more MoW by not having to take Ataxnas. Plant that giant flag in the wreckage of their army and their dreams. Mwahaha!
But even then, don't take Viktor.

I dropped Victor from my vlad2 list last week. Replaced him with a Kodiak, Devastator, and a Strike Tanker).
The 3 units combined can put in my work, and more scenario pressure.
I lost my blow up someone 24 inches away, but I found that working less and less often. Victor's little guns are a waste, so I found myself getting him into Melee a lot, which was a huge hassle.

The central terrain doesn't have to be a forest. Start replacing the trees with a building every now and then to mix things up. Sure they can hide behind it but will they be able to abuse it? Probably not.

The central terrain just has to block LOS. It doesn’t say how.
A 2” tall stack of crates blocks LOS.... just not to everything. Or stick some rolling fog in the center, or some burning earth. Or, stick that aforementioned house in the center. Stick a 5.1” tall house in the center; see how they like that!
Side note: seriously, the people you play against, Sand...

I just came up with this exact list on my own last night. Devastator really allows you to brick up with your main army while the Kodiak brings some much needed pathfinder. Worked pretty well!

One of my thoughts is: - Kommandant Atanas Arconovich & Standard (8) - Kovnik2 (4) + Strike Tanker 2 (5) + Saxon Orrik (4) + Min Mechanic (3) * Strike tanker is a bit more OOmph * You get REAL pathfinder vs charge only pathfinder * Mechanics aren't great but they can likely follow some shock troopers and heal for 10 or so points Your big loss is obvious tactician.... Another option of min mechanics, is we spend those 3 spare points on bigger jacks. Say Destroyer -> Spriggan or such. Flare could be cool for bombs.

Atanas gets work done for me EVERY Game. Order of activation SUCKS if he jams you before you get a chance to feat.

Are you guys bring a second kovnik or a merc I take Ragman. Even if I already have a damage boost from the caster. You can't really kill him when he can palm off shots on to shocktroopers, and making DC P18 and ST P16 makes all the difference in the world. And once I even used him for a magic attack

And once I even used him for a magic attack He's definitely on my short list of things to squeeze in. Even under Vlad2 feat having that extra 2 POW can be really nice if, for instance, an armor buffed colossal charges into your face.

And once I even used him for a magic attack Ragman is on my list of options too. I lose more games to position vs not cracking armor. So Kovnik 2 won over a ragman.
