I dont want to completely discredit the mortars because again i only have one game under my belt. That you want to stay true to the WG only theme is also something i can appreciate. Lastly, ive never seen how well the captain buffs the carriage...maybe they are worth it for this alone.
I do feel however that the mortar and captain package leads to (potentially) overinvesting in upping the performance of a subpar unit (the mortar).
They are free however and neither the adjunct nor sorscha are really critical for vlad. Having said that I can see me experimenting with S0 down the road if there isnt a feasible way to get around the resource limitations.
Dont forget that Alexia2 can summon all the solos you might ever need...plenty of juicy souls in the list.

I've found Sorscha0 to be really useful though. Sometimes to get Vlad's jacks to a really serious threat range on feat turn, sometimes to get free charges two turns in a row (valuable given Vlad's relative shortage of Focus after casting SnP). But some of the better occasions have been unsing Boundless Charge on the Gun Carriage.
You're right about the Adjunct not doing that much for Vlad. But it's one of those pieces it's nice to include to deal with problems, principally incorporeal. A Gun Carriage with Guidance can do a lot of work if you end up against an incorporeal list/feat or similar.

Maybe if they lose inaccurate. I personally think Sorscha and the adjunct are key to the kit. Pathfinder and the threat extension is key for Vlad’s jack game. With the prevalence of pesky incorporeal solos, I think you need the adjunct to win on scenario.

I was just thinking taking the easy way out and getting one more Kapitan. An extra free solo for flags is something I often miss, and they can double in assisting a Gun Carriage, if required.
