In other news Will Pagani is leaving PP in december. Sad times. He has been the sane voice in CID and their competitive alibi.

Woe betide us. At least on the PR front he saved the disaster that was early MKIII.

This is bad news for those of us that remain. Why? Somebody else will take over his role?

This is bad news for those of us that remain. Why? Somebody else will take over his role? Alright I'll start it. There is already rumor that PP is gearing up to sell the company (whatever you want to call it). Getting rid of stock, polishing profit margins etc. The most recent dev talk made mention to lower your CID expectations. That CID is aiming for a stable state and not everything is going to go through CID. Pagani just quit/released. He was talking about future CIDs and discussing the game in a way that makes his leaving seem abrupt. He does not have a new job lined up. Makes his leaving seem a surprise to him. Hmmmmmmm.

Considering his two week notice will have him leaving one week into a CID cycle it is suspicious. You would think he would try to at least time it to leave at the end of a cycle... also not many people quit their jobs right before christmas without a new job lined up. He likely won't even get to sit down for an interview until after January 1st. It could also be that him and his wife decided to move closer to family now that they have a child but still the timing is strange. Either way I wish him the best.

I'm sure he was on the receiving end of much grief running the CIDs
No matter what you do, someone is still unhappy about something
If I was in that position I am not sure I could take the grinding day in and day out during a CID cycle without burning out on it
I am sure the state of the company/game has an effect as well

This is bad news for those of us that remain. Why? Somebody else will take over his role? I simply meant he seemed good at the job and his contributions will be missed.

The timing does seem strange. I'm not gonna cry doom and gloom, but if this was a planned move, I imagine that almost any other time would be better for it. Add in the various indicia that the company might not be doing so hot (2 mystery box sales moving large amounts of product at deep discounts; devs cautioning us about CID slowing down, CIDs that have had echoes of GW-esque newstuff pushing, etc) and there might be some cause for concern.

Not to mention they secretly laid off Matt Goetz recently after shutting down No Quarter Prime. They keep promising that content is coming to their website, but it still hasn't, and they still haven't revamped their website either. I also noticed the Insiders articles have almost completely stopped. At WMW they were trying to drum up excitement for Monpoc, but I only ever saw 1-3 people at the table. Company of Iron is basically a total flop. They also can't manage to keep Black Anchor models in stock as the Supreme Guardian has been out of stock at least 5 times which might indicate that they're busy, but could be a symptom of any other number of problems.
It looks pretty grim right now and PP has been terrible about communicating anything.

Just when I get back into the game after a few years hiatus, spending a couple grand getting the newest models for the four armies I play and hobby stuff, this talk of PP not doing good is disconcerting. I hope all is good with the company but I think I will hold off on future purchases for a while...
