Also dogganmit swamp, the technical term would be Uranii nor Urani. Not likely, that would be the plural of Uranius.

I still post from time to time, but there are people on here that have ruined specific forums for me, but I’ve moved on. Convergence is quiet but mostly pretty civil and somewhat open to new ideas which is nice.
Long story short I’m still kicking around, but not as active do to trolls / toxicity levels.

My posting has gone down from the initial launch, but I generally still really enjoy the boards. I like a bit of personality and passion in posts, so I think I have a slightly higher tolerance for borderline "toxic" behavior than others, but I can't stand the facebook groups. The format is just not suited to discussion.

The format is just not suited to discussion. I sometimes reply to them, but I do agree. Sometimes somebody asks or says something that someone else did literally the day before, but it's impossible to know that if you weren't there. Or even of you were there, that wonky facebook algorithm might just not have shown you

So I have a thought/theory about this that may mean this is a good thing.
Most of the posts I see are "how you fix this model we think sucks?", "Is there a way to make this model we think sucks worthwhile without changing its rules?", and "I'm struggling to make my army work the way I want it to, here are my attempts to do so, please give me moral support and/or confirm my fears that my dreams will remain unfulfilled". These are certainly the kind of posts I make the most.
Less posts means less of these posts which means maybe as CiDs move along things are getting better? Alternatively, it could just mean that "now that CiD has come and gone, your army still isn't what you want so you can just give up your hopes and dreams and play something else"

Voting for the last one.
I also think the change to launching cycle is a thing. Before each faction got a new toy. Which generated discussion in several factions. Now we are on the old 40k cycle. After you get a CID, Its awful quiet for a long time.

I don't post here anymore due to low activity, and the third time or so I posted I was attacked by a couple of Urani.

These are certainly the kind of posts I make the most. Basically that. There is soooo much wishlisting going on here and so little tactica... it's pretty unispiring to potential new players. I play very little myself, and because of the above I often don't understand why you all do.

This was a general question but I think most of the threads I start have been pretty tactica focused. And by and large have generated a modicum of relevant conversation.

I think it can boil down to the group, though. A lot of those "Is there a way to make this model we think sucks worthwhile without changing its rules?", and "I'm struggling to make my army work the way I want it to, here are my attempts to do so, please give me moral support and/or confirm my fears that my dreams will remain unfulfilled" threads can be great if people go out and actually play games and give their feedback/experience.
Having some discussions on the mercs board has made me buy/paint/play models I otherwise never would have, and it generally always started with that kind of thread. Obviously, ymmv.

Well, tactica IS partly about figuring out which models work and which models don't. So discussing the merits/crappiness of certain models is helpful. But discussing "what PP should have made instead" is less so. But it's also kinda fun, for some people, and nearly everything I've seen posted over here has made its way into CiD boards, so it's not entirely pointless either. It doesn't help to encourage new players. But I doubt that should ever be the purpose of any forum, apart from finding local folks to play with. Which brings me to my next point:
You want a good community? You do it locally, usually by playing LOTS of games and by helping step by step new players to become better players. Our meta is huge because we have a massive constantly running league, actively encouraged by many mentors. It's so big we are renting a party bus to take us to the SOO. No amount of kvetching online nor cheerleading will have any noticable effect on a community for a game that's played in person with tangible models in contrast to what a real local community that plays lots of games will do.

I have noticed that the forums seem rather barren this year. Many of the faction pages seem to get a response to a post less than once a day at this point. It's probably a combination of splintering (after the PP forums stopped being the go to place, people settled in several different locations) and low attendance. I see far fewer players lately than I have in the past. I know some groups are said to be striving but not from my vantage point.
