What would you guys think of a CID just for the five least popular themes (regardless of faction) and the three least played model/units in each faction? Something like that? 5 themes and 39 (13 factions *3) models sound like too big of a CID...

I fear it might not be, because the scale down would just be to a single theme and related models, which is basically what they're doing right now. They do tend to tackle generally unpopular models, if they even remotely connect to the theme in question, so they're really trying. I think a "model type" CID like we had for Battle Engines, but for Gargossals or character jacks/beasts might be more feasible (and wanted?)

So if you scale that down, is it a good idea in principle? I want to like this idea, but it won't really be that good, owing to the fact that because of the place the factions are at within the cycle, and that Ret just received a whole tranche of adjustments, they (on the face of it), don't need that aspect of it. More practically, there's the issue that 'least popular theme' may not equate with 'least played model(s)', and 'fixing' one theme for each and every faction is going to make the CID process tremendously unwieldy. It would take quite a long time to do fully and there'd be quite a bit of whining about how it's messing with the release cycle and the faction who's releases were slated next would be whining loudest. I think a "model type" CID like we had for Battle Engines, but for Gargossals or character jacks/beasts might be more feasible (and wanted?) This is... better, but the reason there was a Battle Engine CID in the first place was because they were widely derided and considered the worst models in the game with little to no reason to take any of them with the possible exception of the TEP and maybe the Storm Strider. And it requires breaking down the other model types into subgroups of their own which will start a series of arguments by its own, because a lot of models (within or without of theme) don't have analogues in other factions, or are of a different model type. You may be thinking of a different line of thought than I am, so it would be an idea to expand on it...

You may be thinking of a different line of thought than I am, so it would be an idea to expand on it... Yeah, I wouldn't go so far as making arbitrary model types, mostly just the ones I said. Gargossals are/were widely regarded as slightly overcosted and slightly underefficient, so they decided to have a look at most of them during the CID cycles. Except, it kind of sucks if your faction got a cycle before they arbitrarily made that decision. So far I guess it would be mainly Cygnar and Cryx getting left behind (yes, yes, "they're already the strongest factions, so shut up") By character jacks/beasts I mostly mean evaluating potential inclusions in a theme, which they have already been doing. Maybe include some quality of life changes like a point cost reevaluation, or some minor upgrade. It's kind of hard for other faction to look at what they did to Ghetorix and Discordia and not feel some kind of envy for your own characters that are left in the dust. That last part may spiral out of control rather quickly though and would muddle up the testing of theme inclusion, as new abilities might have more unforeseen interactions. I'm not sure if anything else would be general enough while also being minor enough to be included, as casters would really need testing in multiple themes at least and that would make it vastly more complex.

I admit that I didn't think of that one, but Mercs also haven't gotten a CID yet. The current trend would suggest that it might get a look at during the Steelhead CID. If it doesn't, you can add Mercs to the list of getting left behind

Single spoiled models aside, are there any known Faction CIDd to support new releases that we know of besides Steelheads and Infernals?
Of the untested spoiled models, isn’t the list now just:
POM order of the wall Khador graylord adjunct Grymkin clockatrice beast Cryx Bane officer Circle well of oboros
Did I miss something?
Of those 5, which supporting themes are in ‘need’ of a theme mini CID besides Wolves of Winter?

Neither of which are looking at seeing updates for a loooooong time.

If they hadn't already announced a Steelhead model list, I would have put the Rhuls as needing more models, and so needing more of a CID. Talion just needs one to make them desirable.

All colossals/gargants not out of CID are undertuned by comparition... even some of the CID ones are looking flimsy.
