IMHO, loss of the Pyre/Slag MK2 animi (warbeast damage buff) was an unforeseen deathknell for our long awaited non-Mulg heavy 2" melee Dire. Even with the Brawler's innate respectable damage output, the age of Power-up/Empower(s)/Jr.Warcasters and 'jack-spam creates a 1.5 to 1 negative trade situation versus most heavy (spam) warjacks fielded at this point in time.
It would be interesting to see, if the Brawler was 14 pts would it supplant the EBDT? Or if chain weapons ignored Unyielding...

14 seems too cheap. We've seen in this thread alone what you can get him to do. Someone made the comment that he is a 15.5 point warbeast and that seems pretty close. If he was the same as a Mauler I think there is some choice to be had with the Rage animus being so good balanced against Reach and respectable damage output to start.
I'm liking him so far in a couple variations of the topics we've touched on here. I'm looking into some 'locks that aren't talked about on every podcast everywhere and finding some nice synergies and things to exploit. I played a Doomie2 list in SotN two nights ago, that was interesting.
I'm certainly not giving up on Brawler's just yet and I still believe he might have some really unexplored application given that Trolls have kind of stagnated for quite a few months now.

At 15 I'd consider him an excellent deal. At 16 I consider him slightly overcosted and a luxury (but not bad). I 100% agree that many of the light animus' should be returned to being castable on others. Sadly PP made it clear during the Northkin CID that they did not want to do that (at least with the Pyre Troll). Having a battlegroup of Brawler/Pyre/some other light in a world where light animi are back to range 6 seems pretty cool. As I write this I quickly went through all our lights, the Axer is the only light we have with a non-self animus.

All this talk about the brawler made me wanna dojo him a bit. The Direction went to 1) Stone Elder provide +1 str 2) SSC provide charge of the trolls At PS18 with chain weapon he is surely good. Many high armor have somekind of shield. And with Champs an example in BoH getting Change of the Trolls off is way easier with a large based 2" reach than an Axer, Bouncer or Impaler. (last one dont see play anyways ) 16 is a high price but I agree with the notation that 14 is to cheap. I kinda like the 15.5 mark, so 15 would probably make him see the table. Honestly I would probably try out 2 at 15 points as for our lights - well they are not gonna see a chance soon which unfortunately make most of them somewhat corner cases.

Difference in base size between a medium and a large base is on 10mm (about 3/8") total which I don't think in general is going to make a huge difference as far as Charge of the Trolls goes.

I am well aware of the 40mm versus 50mm base size. Frankly I have had a hard time setting it up with the axer or bouncer i therefore gladly welcome that 1cm more (but true I used the words WAY easier which is a bit much). besides getting to use both the brawler and the chronicler would be super cool as both currently see minimum of work. Currently toying (dojoing) around with Madrak1 - Moses - 2x Brawlers FCH ChampHero Lanyssa SSC min Stone + Elder min Long Riders 2x Champions + Sorc (+1 with Skaldi) Sweet PS17 attacks on the Long Riders could be living the dream, while having 2 heavy beasts with ps18 chains sounds like doable fun

At 14 points, the Brawler would probably STILL not be spammed, in any theme/warlock combo. So 'too good or too cheap'? Doubtful. It ain't Slayer/G3, Mad Dog/Karchev, etc. broke. EBDT still has more survive-ability and other compelling reasons to field it.
At 14 it would simply allow the fit of that SECOND Chronicler. 2 more models sold!! Additional Brawler and Chronicler. I wanna keep PP sales steady!! Charge of the Trolls has always been a tricky-to-set-up ability and therefore NEVER complained about, 2x the chance might just be the ticket...
The drop in cost and rebalancing of some of my Ret warjacks has me continuing to hope for my less used Dires (Blitzer/Brawler).
