I would drybrush one more bright highlight on the skin, but it's certainly not necessary. Well done, carry on.
edit: Because I can't spell, apparently.

I like the colour scheme and the way you're painting the plates along his back. The only thing I'm not sold on is your colour choices for the feathers; I think they would have looked better without the white base (so just orange and yellow, probably with one colour on the base and the other on the tips rather than striped). The skin/scales look a touch flat in the photos, but I suspect that might just be the lighting in the photos as photographing against a white background can make a model's colours look a bit sedated. Could you try photographing against a darker background?

If you have a dark grey background, that would be great for photographing against. Anyway, the skin/scales do look nicer in these new photos, as do the feathers. I think the orange tips aren't showing up that well because they are being drowned out by the vibrant red background? Just one last suggestion for the feathers: the transition between colours doesn't look so good as a flat line across the feather. Instead, look at the structure of the feathers: they have lines coming out from the center at a diagonal. I suggest painting the new colours along those same lines, so you end up with a sort of diamond-shaped spot of colour at the end of each feather.

I think the feathers will be fine with a different background. Where'd that white sheet of paper go? I do see an improvement of "pop" on the scales already though.

Don't forget the last step in the process; take a 20 Oz claw hammer and smash the gators to bits...hahaha.
Sorry, not a gator fan. But doing a good job keep it up.
