So what pre-CID answers do you all have out there for Gator spam? I'm going to be going up against one before CID drops and could use some dojo. I was kinda thinking Elara2 in LoD, but not sold on it either.

If we are talking about Maelok gator spam, then the best answer is Thyron, some light jacks and Madelyn.

I believe it will be Rask, but Maelok is a possibility.

Against rask it's pretty easy, you just need to force him to pop his feat before he wants to by massively out threatening him - elara2 with halbs or some kind of gunline should do the trick.
Maelok is s whole different ballgame, though.

Well I can't seem to recall everything, but what I do remember is Wrastler, Wrong Eye and Snapjaw, and possibly a bull snapper. They also have a totem hunter in there I believe.
I've only ever played into this list once before with my trolls. And that was awhile back. I just want to see how my ret do against it.

Okay well first is to figure out how to midigate or minimize the lists alpha potential.
Sense gatorman Posey will be the infantry they need to charge to do their best work. Taking that away from them leaves them at p+s 13 melee with no way to boost (though some casters have ways to augment their damage.)
Also the beasts will be a problem for you as they trade well.
In my oppinion though she is not the most played caster i would recomend
Kaelyssa 1 -hydra -hydra
Archanist Machanic (free) Eiryss 1 (free) Dawnguard Scyre (free) -Aspis Dawnguard Scyre -Aspis
Dawnguard Sentinal (max) -Officer and Standard Dawnguard Sentinal (max) -Officer and Standard Dawnguard Invictors (min) -Officer and Standard
The reason i made this list is to go against medium infatry builds and apply massive pressure.
Kaelyssa 1 feat is a good counter to a lot of infantey heavy lists making your models immune to charges/slams and MOST shooting. Its a great feat to counter Rask as it make you un targetable to the Gatorman Posey for charges.
With Eirys 1 and Kaelyssa you can strip fury off the beasts and force the controlling warlocks to cut for fury.
Hydras keep the opponents moseld honest with phantom hunter as an option.
With the massive ranged dispelling potential the list brings you can drop off quite a few buffs and play to your str.
Invictors are a pressure piece and a second wave line as they can both have rng 14 gunns and p+s 11 melee backup.
Sentinals are your work horses and should be able to get a decent alpha into the gator lines on charges.
Aspis are in for two reasons one the current theme grants you flank making the jacks hit at mat 8 and weapon master but more importantly you can leverage their beat back to help let pressure off you. With strike true these jacks can produce a massive mat 10 into starcrossed targets.
I only had poi ts for a single archanist though so sorry feel free to adjust the list as you like

I think post-CID Shadows might also be good with pow 14 combo strikes and cra on the strike force.

Thanks for the great advice Onijet. I'll have to tweak it a bit due to model ownership, but I see what you were getting at.

Couple of thoughts on gators: - Both Rask and Maelok have a similar playstyle to Madrak1. They all rely heavily on defensive feat to force a favorable early engagement and snowball from that to attrition victory. I have found out that the best way to deal with this strategy is to go 2nd, spread out and avoid risky engagements until they have used their feat. You have a minor risk of losing to a scenario early on, but these casters aren't know for their control tricks, so you should be fine even if they take a lead in scenario points. When they try to win early they usually expose themselves to attrition loss. - Our single wound melee infantry generally sucks against posse mainly because posse has a native melee threat range of 12" against living models. Both Maelok and Rask also have ways to increase that. Light warjack that outhreats them while also toeing a zone or multiple rounds of no-risk shooting is something that posse doesn't want to see. - Learn to use Madelyn. Madelyn is one of the best solos in the game and easily the best warcaster attachment. There are many popular lists out there that can't win on scenario or assassination if you have Madelyn in your list.

Well I just finished a game against Rask. It was the 3rd scenario of the 2018 packet. My opponent's list was Rask and friends in Will Work for Food. I lost the roll and my opponent went 1st. I ended up using Elara2 in Legions into this match up, because I really wanted to leverage Elara's feat at the right time. My list was as follows: Elara Hyperion Chimera Mechanik Mechanik Scyir with Hydra Sents full w/UA Sents full w/Ua
I deployed Elara central with her BG and a Mechanik. Then the Sents on each side with the Scyir and other Mechanik to the right.
Opponent used a forest in the middle to really control center of board. But on turn 2 I feated and was able to pincer his army. So he was caught between sentinels on each side and a hyperion in the front. Basically I just killed all the heavies I could during feat turn and slowly ground him down until I went up on CPs.
I like the list into Rask n friends, but I'm still not confident about dropping it into Maelok. If I play the player again this weekend I'll test it.
