Well, I have been thinking about what could be used to expand the Scourge of the Broken Coast theme in the future. Don't get me wrong, I have found it to be quite enjoyable, and I think this theme has probably the greatest variety of amazing looking models in it... But my only complaint is that it has a pretty limited selection of models to choose from.
So it got me thinking, what could be added in the future to this theme to give it a bit more variety? A new unit? A few solos? What job would those models have to accomplish to actually be of any use to the rest of the Satyxis?
I feel like an artillery piece is out, since it doesn't match the lightning fast raids of the rest of the pirate ladies.
But would a Satyxis 'Jack Marshal or generic journeyman warcaster be out of place as well? How could they be made different enough from Aikos or Deneghra0 to warrant having a model made?
Satyxis light cavalry unit? That seems a bit out of place for pirates as well... and Cryx already has two cav units.
A Satyxis solo with a 14" range rifle, Sniper, and another ability or two would be neat though... but we already have Severa Blacktide. I just don't know what she could be given to make her different enough. Maybe have it so when she destroys a living enemy model, it creates a 3" AOE cloud effect where spells can't be cast or channelled?
I was also thinking of a somewhat wacky idea that seemed pretty fitting for the lady pirates during boarding actions. Have a smaller sized unit (4-6 models as min and max unit size), give them Raider stats, but replace their weapon with a 2" melee ranged polearm (essentially a two pronged pitchfork) that lacks Feedback and Chain Weapon, and is a low P+S 6. Give them Combined Melee Attack and an ability that when a model in the unit makes a melee attack that hits a small based enemy model, before the damage roll, place the enemy model up to 2" directly behind the Satyxis (Grabber?) that made the attack and the enemy model is Knocked Down. If two or more models in the unit made a Combined Melee attack, they may be able to place a small or medium based model up to 2" directly behind the point of origin and it is Knocked Down before the damage roll. The idea of some lady pirates just reaching across to another ship and plucking the enemy from where they stand seems hilarious. I would have gone with a Drag instead, but we already have quite a few models with a Drag effect on their harpoons.
What do you guys think? What could be added to this theme to make it have a bit more variety?

Well I would love that pp just changed the name slaughter fleet to black fleet and added satyxis there (keeping all SF bonuses) and done. Obviously its no gonna happen... sadly

While I wouldn't mind an expansion of the Satyxis model roster (if only because the basic units have quite a low average cost, it's making my 'dabble' into Cryx a little heavier than I'd intended), it is doubtful they'll get anything any time soon. Comparisons with other faction themes notwithstanding:
10 woman unit? CA's for said 10 woman units? Non 10 woman unit? Caster (doesn't really count, but eh)? Solo? Character support/combat solo? Caster attachment?
All can be answered with yes (well, obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have listed them), with the only notable omissions being cavalry, character attachment and character unit. Of these, I'd like to see a character attachment for the Blood Witches or Raiders most with a new set of prayers to mix things up.

There's two directions as I see it: more raider-style stuff, or more blood magic stuff. When the first spoilers of Dirge Seers came out, I thought they were going to be a unit of Satyxis Hags doing blood magic stuff.
Satyxis cavalry would be cool. Riding giant blighted wolves.
You could get a "beach head" structure, which is just some landing boat they've driven ashore.

I could see a jack marshall style satyxis solo or unit attachment, but even the ILO in our other themes isn't very popular due to the package cost. It makes the most sense of what we could get though aside from a character unit attachment. The sniper idea had merit too, maybe a weapon attachment or solo for the gun slingers. I am thinking like the gun mage with the rifle.
In this theme, your bang for your buck is the satyxis units and things that support them. We just got a new caster (Skarre 3), a few solos (severa and axiara), and the warcaster attachment (blood priestess). I would say that fleshed things out pretty well and it makes building lists pretty tight and static. I wouldn't mind some options, but the faction as a whole has lots of options given our 6 themes. I love getting new toys, but I would like to see another theme get some love. Like maybe allowing us to take some of the exclusive merc cephalyx units in our black industries theme.

The recent expansion of model options has improved the Satyxis porfolio dramatically. I woupdn't say no to more options, but the #1 thing I think that could make a significant difference (for Skarre at least) would be her getting a character warjack. Most likely, the best bond interaction would be something that returns her life, though of course there are other good alternatives. I use Corruptors with her to good affect, and a character one might be a great addition.

The theme really does have most of the bases covered... But I can't help but be a bit jealous when I see the Tharn or Trencher themes and it has models for days in them. A character Satyxis unit would be pretty neat, but that also leaves me thinking "what would they do?". I still wouldn't turn it down at all, I just don't know what role they would fill. Yeah, I agree that I would love to see the other themes get more love as well, this is mainly just wishlisting for the theme that converted me to Cryx for Mk.III, and also just to generate discussion. I see what you mean with the ILO though, it doesn't seem to be a very loved addition to our armies in Cryx as a whole. I do like the idea of a UA for the Gunslingers, but it seems Severa is meant to be their "UA", much like the Koldun Lord tp the Greylord Ternion or Widowmaker Marksman to the Widowmakers. Would a Gunslinger UA plus Severa make their shooting too potent? I would be pretty happy if they just let us use Denny0 in Scourge though, since that would open up just a few more options to play with. I would be overjoyed at Skarre getting a character light 'jack.

We're in a situation now that every major faction has a 3-(wo)man character unit: B13th; Rhoven&Bros; GBears; WSC; SoS; Sons; DWs; BFS; & LoH. However, we've had 2-(wo)man character units (Artanas and now B&C), so I think that's the direction things will go. If Cryx were to have a 2-woman character unit for Satyxis, I reckon that could be pretty cool. Twins, one Gunslinger (with Assault/Gunfighter etc.) and a Raider as a combat unit with trickery, or a support unit with aura-based actions buffing nearby Satyxis. I'll take pure combat because I'm dumb like that, and the Satyxis tend towards combined function solos anyway (early/mid game abilities and late game combat potential).

I like the idea of a twin satyxis unit, though having them one ranged focused and one melee focused can be tricky because you want to charge the melee girl, but then you cant shoot the other one unless they have assault or gun fighter or something. I used Severa and Axiara for the first time this weekend and I was very impressed with Severa. She and her gun slinging girls took down a Drakhun, which I though was going to be too high armor, but with heart seeker and Severa's ability to boost while making gun fighter shots, they unhorsed him, then killed him. Then she got into a ranged duel with Saxon Orick. Fun game. I also used her chain attack to great effect against crucible guard rocket men. My opponent had a warjack too close to the unit, double tapped the warjack and pulled a good number of them in.
I didn't get as much use out of Axiara as I kept her in the back for her tactics effects, but should have really sent her in with her weapon master blade. I did get to use her turn herself incorporeal one game, which was fun.

Axiara is great for letting your Gunslingers move through the Raiders in front of them, kill some stuff, and than Run and Gun back behind the Raiders. Also, don't forget it doesn't have to be an enemy model that Axiara kills to go Incorporeal. It was pointed out to me that the Blood Witches can do the same. It has opened up some great new possibilities for me in scenarios. It can be worth having Axiara walk into melee with a random Satyxis and shank her to get Incorporeal and be safe camping an objective while dishing out Tactician and her Battle Plans. I really do like the idea of a twin Satyxis unit. It would also be nice to get a 6 (wo)man unit of Satyxis as well so we would have units of varying sizes amd abilities.
