Well, that's terrible news. For one, the cost of buying everything piecemeal is greater than the price of the starter box, and won't come with the playmat or buildings which, to my understanding, are needed and PP has not made templates available online. For another, having to buy everything piecemeal makes the game far less accessible, or at least makes it feel that way. I really don't get what PP was thinking there. So maybe I'll bite the bullet and get the GUARD starter, as I find owning them a less-offensive option than Planet Eaters (who I REALLY don't like the looks of), and then piecemeal a second faction so that I can actually start playing games and hopefully get others interested. But I'm not happy about this. It’s really not that bad. Only half the players in each game need to own a map. Also: fewer starter boxes means fewer SKUs to ask stores to stock. SKU bloat is a real problem with miniatures games. You could also just wait until the faction you really want is released. The downside is that you have to wait while everyone else plays and has fun with their toys.

The problem is nobody here plays it at the moment. So this means I HAVE to get one of the starter boxes, as I can't rely on the other player having one.

Hah, that Prime paint scheme is brilliant! I'm also loving your red and steel Syndicate, they look great! Actually all your models look great. PP should pay you for doing such a good job of advertising their game for them!

Imagine the possibilities if some small but competent corps of enthusiasts volunteered to promote Privateer’s products and organize their local communities! I wonder what such a collection of volunteers might accomplish if given time? Nah, that’s crazy! What would you even call such a thing, anyway?

There is nothing wrong with being a local volunteer Press Ganger doing everything you're talking about. The problem is providing any kind of support that could be considered monetary of any kind.

Aaaaaaanyway. Nothing makes a joke funnier than explaining it! What’s that about a Thanksgiving Miracle for a local player? I don’t know. It sounds mysterious!

What’s that about a Thanksgiving Miracle for a local player? I don’t know. It sounds mysterious! That Thanksgiving Miracle turned out to be all right. Maybe, like, “miracle” was too strong, and, a “Thanksgiving That Was Cool” would have been more apt. Long story short: I helped a guy get his collection from “a whole lot of models primed black” to a state of “has a painted playable army, and at least all the rest of his stuff has like 50% of the work done now”. I think that is fair. Also, I finished my Comm Array and Industrial Complex and played a whole bunch of games! Side note: Shadow Sun is a pain in the butt to fight, especially if you screw up your unit positioning...

I just had a crazy idea of a scenario where one group had to protect the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The challenge would be having the parade modelled on the board.
