I'll point out the elephant in the room and move on, eh...
Ret is the only major faction whose Mk2 battlebox caster doesn't have a second incarnation, never mind a third...
Yes, I am of the 'Kae is Bae' crew...!
Now, based on recent CID cycles, those with new casters have typically had said new caster be designed around the theme in question and match it from both a fluff and rules perspective to varying degrees, but the intent is always there (Anamag, Sorscha3, Cyrenia, Barny2, Kolgrima). Given that most rumours and expectations point to Legions of Dawn being the first full Ret CID cycle, what would that mean in terms of who our next caster is?
In order of release, we have eleven distinct characters (which is close to average, having parity with all of Hordes and just behind most of the other WM factions), only really lagging behind in the epic department (that is, more than one incarnation that can be taken explicitly as a Retribution caster) with just the one:
Forces of WM, Ret - Garryth, Kaelyssa, Rahn, Ravyn & Vyros1
Wrath - Ossyan
Colossals - Vyros2
Vengeance - Issyria
Reckoning - Thyron
Mk 3 - Helynna, Elara2 & Goreshade4 in that order
Now, as the seventh distinct caster introduced, Issyria would be the logical choice of Dawnguard epic if the next CID is indeed for Dawnguard. But in terms of how long she's been part of the faction alongside some of the others, many would argue that she should not be. Briefly, Shadows still needs a bit of work (OK, arguments may be made for all our themes), being the only (explicitly) unit driven theme with only two non-character units, the only theme with a Mk2 legacy ten-man unit without a non-character CA (petty point, I know, but shut up!) and the only theme without an explicit buff-bot solo (though oddly enough the theme with the most unique theme-tagged solos, rather annoyingly). So a few general questions:
1) Does the impending release of the Dawnguard Trident diminish the likelihood that our first full CID cycle will be for the Dawnguard?
1a) If Dawnguard is indeed the next CID for Ret, how do you envision the caster release? Entirely new character (possible, Cyg-12, PoM-13, K-11, Cx-12) or Issyria2?
1b) Irrespective of answer: why?
2) Which theme (or a new theme, elucidate if so inclined) do you think will be looked at next, if not the Dawnguard theme?
2a) And, with your chosen theme in mind, who do you expect to be made epic during this cycle? Or do you think an entirely new caster will be released?
2b) Again, irrespective of answer: why?
3) If nothing else from above, who should our next epic caster be, or (if the previous is too loaded a question) who do you think will be our next epic caster?
3a) And why?
