So,I've currently got a crap tone of khador waiting at home to be painted at the end of the year (currently on a 6 month exercise 5000 miles away).
It's definatley going to be more of a painting project than a gaming project as it will need to keep me busy,as I'll have nearly 2 months at home.
Any who,I'm wanting to build the army (specifically, the WGK stuff) around a city fighting theme,I just have no idea how to base them properly,I want them to look like they been fighting in a city that has been absolutely ruined, pretty much like Stalingrad,so not just a few sprinkles of rubble etc,I mean full on ruins, barbed wire, foxholes etc.
Scenic bases are a no go (at least not for the full army),it prefer to make my own.
Has anyone got any examples for inspiration,or just some tips?

Even if you don't want to buy existing scenic bases (and there's plenty of "city ruins" style bases), you can get bags of miniature bricks and sandbags and spools of barbed wire to arrange to your liking; it should save a huge amount of time and effort while still giving you full creative control to make your own unique bases.
Off the top of my head I don't know which companies sell the specific supplies, but you should be able to find them if you check the usual suspects.

That's what I was originally thinking of,maybe bulk out and contour the bases with milliput, then add the relevant bits?

My old LGS had the barbed wire and sand bags that would fit, but like Soul Samurai, I can't remember the name of the brand and the store's been long closed.

Check hobby shops and miniature train hobby suppliers. They have a ton of good stuff at mine, from sandbags to bricks in several sizes and more.

Hobby shops also sell miniature girder by the foot, which scattered throughout bases will help with the "Blasted Cityscape" theme.

Also, extra minis, hacked up and painted in your army's colors, really help sell the "waves of conscripts wearing down the enemy under sheer numbers" effect that I feel so strongly resonates with the battle for Stalingrad.
A hand reaching up from the mud or a boot sticking out of the rubble as his Komrades trample over definitely sets the mood.

Easy way to make a lot of bricks: youtu.be/w508UtQbd_IIf you were to punch bricks while watching tv, you probably would have plenty for your project in a night or two.
