Seriously, our elite skirmishing option doesn't seem to get much love. I use them in a gimmicky Makeda1 list but otherwise I just haven't seen them out there.

While we're here, does anyone use Swamp Gobber River Raiders? You know as 3 cheap solos?

While we're here, does anyone use Swamp Gobber River Raiders? You know as 3 cheap solos? I do. I run them in a WoD Rasheth list. Use the feat to ensure they hit, then use their debuffs to double up on the feat debuffs and Agonizers crying to make it so that enemy war beasts can never hurt you. Sometimes you can also charge with their melee weapon to lower the enemy defense, then use their harpoon pistol to run away so that others can then shoot the targets newly lowered defense. I've also used them, hilariously, to lower the defense of my own turtles so that my beast handlers can hit them more reliably. I've also used them to ensure my Breath of Corruption clouds are placed properly. Lastly, I've had people tell me I've won a moral victory for even putting them on the table.

eh, their cost is kind of a hindrance. They are an awesome early engagement model to just run into your enemies lines to tell them F-you. However, they cost the same amount as a full unit of karax + UA and 2 more points than a full unit of swordsmen. They also cost the same amount as a full unit of reivers, immortals, or nihilators. They would probably do good in a fast moving army with a def booster. Run them up and engage the backline, making it risky to try and use collateral damage or AoEs to clear them. Since they have parry, they can weave all throughout an enemy's formation to really screw with people's normal plans. If you could give them pathfinder as well as a def boost, they'd be a real gem. Perhaps an incoming UA?

A DEF boost and Pathfinder are gold on them, but I still don't think that's enough to make them worthwhile.
These guys exist to die, and fuddle opponent activations. I can count on two hands the number of models I've seen them remove after running to jam. Fornme, this means I have to get resource utility out of their deaths too, otherwise I'm paying way too much for a skirmish/jam unit.
This basically pidgeonholes them into a Zaal1/2 list for me in MoW. A Tyrant can get them the Pathfinder or SPD bump, and Zaal's can help with the output (if it ever came to that). Mostly, they just die, and I can feed extollers or Zaal2 for the next turn.

I suspect they may get more use once the Supreme Guardian comes out. It will allow decent soul collection in MoW so that you can double dip with them. Mordikaar can probably make good use of them in MoW now, but then you are playing him without access to Void Spirits... And that stinks.
I've considered them a lot in both Makedas, but because the Ferrox are so good at what the Keltari already do there usually isn't room for them.

if a despoiler kills a unit that would usually grant a void spirit you still get a void spirit x.O; Since the only limit is how many you can gain per turn, that means you can go beyond the field allowance as well. Despoiler is mainly talked about because of dark shroud, but when you are actually using him for void spirit spawns to be combined with Mordi, he's seriously pumped. The only issue is that if your opponent knows what he can do he'll be targeted heavily.

Yes, I'm aware, but if you are relying on Despoiler to spawn your Void Spirits, that's a pretty severe restriction

you forgot something x.O; the despoiler doesn't have to kill them. they just have to die within 5 inches of the despoiler
