Have you guys played with the harpy alot for the points cost there gun has been fantastic for me in recent games. Quick question is the Thunderbolt optional or do they always do the push ? I love the knockdown on these guys and with Ossyan getting the option to see if you hit then boosting and the ability to have 4d6 damage pow 13 is just amazing. How do you guys find them, do you use them ? I've only recently come back to ret and got them on the table and so far ive found them to be awesome.

The ability does not say "can", therefore it is always a "must". It's something you need to watch out for, you need to get within 9" if you want to guarantee both shots hit. Or backstop your target.

I thought this was the case I just wanted to double check if not missed something and was playing it right. Some opponents have been kind enough to backstop my target for me, pushing things out of zones is fantastic though. I really like the funky effects on the guns alot of our Jack's have. One other question I have if my sentinel is engaging an heavy warjack and I shoot into melee and I hit and they push it back and if that pushes them out of the 2 inch melee range does my sentinel get a free strike ?

Hey.
Love the harpy. Played a shadows list using ossyan. Had two with elara and one with him and hypnos. Can be amazing on feat.
I was also running a helyenna with sentinels x 2 and 5 harpies and one chimera as the battle group. Hand of destruction is just amazing with them. Can one round colossals and best I've had was bottomed one killing a wraith engine that wondered too close.

No. Free strikes only occur when a model advances out of the melee range or LOS of a model that is engaging it. A push is not an advance.

Turns out the enemy Sylys is a traitor sometimes! Also keep in mind that incorporeal models cannot be pushed, so if a caster or target is incorporeal for some reason they can't be pushed out of range.

Ok so glad I've played it right and I thought you didn't get the free strike and it's only if they advance feel a bit silly. I did not realise that incorporeal couldn't be pushed that is a good tip I will have to remember that. Hellyna definitely seems to do alot for her Jack's running 5 of them sounds scary. I've never really tried her out I might have to look into her. I think I also will look at Rahn using TK to turn an target around then pushing it back means minimum 4 inches upto 8 inches.

Rhythm of war and flight is also crazy good together. Yeah that's true although hellyna does alot of work for Jack's in general she is probably our best in faction at running Jack's it's just a shame that our main jack theme has no guns and I believe Vyros runs Griffon spam better

Forges has the option of taking Nyss hunters and also Battlemages are a ranged spell unit. As far as jacks go, Hydra guns are pretty solid with Arcanists. Manticore guns are good for screening and the Hyperion has a critical consume 5" aoe. And the latest from CID has the Gorgon with a spray 8. So I believe there are lots of options for guns in the theme.

Don't know why I said no guns I think I meant more on warjacks although there is a couple of options and there's also no harpy there sadly. However I think she could work with Battle mages, manticore and the gorgon could be a option now. I'm not sure if I'm sold on Hyperion though. I'd love another jack theme for our myrmidons as I can't see them being included in Forges. Think I am going to test out a defenders gunline using the AFG to further buff my hydra.

I agree with you that it would be nice to have a Vyre theme, but that is a ways off yet, if at all.
