Mini update! Ill be playing Baldur 2 for a bit, and i made a wall template. Its made of pine bark and plasticard and i think its pretty neat. the 3d part of the base is smaller than the base template so it should not interfere too much with model placement

Looks nice! I've never really done any terrain. I did make a wall template as a test once, but a dog chewed it up.

Cool stuff. I like the wyrds. Why are the druids purple? Basically on a whim hehe. I think it will make my army look more unique and it also makes for some nice color interactions for the otherwise pretty bland black clacds It has to have a connection to WarcraftIII at some point very nice lookings Wyrds! I really like the scheme and bases. Painting residual glow works pretty good if you dilute the colour and kind of fill everything with the glow colour (Electrical Blue or whatever) and let that dry. Then take really thin white and paint over that. If the white is properly diluted it will cover less space and you get a very nice glow effect! I'll post some pictures at some point

So, if Circle is Night Elves, who would be the Draenei? Iosans are too tiny, and the Trolls aren't advanced enough.

I'm always a fan of repurposing random stuff in to basing / scenery materials.

I have now finished my well! I chose to do blood rather than water cause... why not? im mostly playing tharn so it feels appropriate I also added some functionality. I made a scale from 0-32 to indicate the current HP of the well (as it changes all the time since you boost, and maybe heal it too) and then i added steel wire to the inside of the rim of the base. I then took half a skull (thanks GW for giving me lots of extras ) and magnetized that to use as a life tracker on the model.

And here is a little Gremlin swarm to score flags. I actually havent played them very often, but two weeks ago i had a game with one where the opponent just couldnt handle it. It was glorious to have 3 points of gremlins lock down an entire flank, so i got painting!

Man, that well/fountain is amazing! The blood is some real horror movie stuff! The wound tracker idea is pure genius!
The gremlin swarm is cute, I love how colourful the model is between the gremlins, the warjack arm, and the basing.

Then i washed it (and the entire model in fact) in a black/brown wash. After varnishing was done i applied GW blood for the blood god over the blood. I did some splashing and things like that too, but there is no real skill involved. Id say it looks better in person due to the reflections in the photo.

Storm Raptor done! I was inspired by Tomasz Mucha with this scheme. His looks better, but im pretty happy with mine too. I tried the new contrast paints out here. The brown is a mix of maybe 4:1 of Aggaros Dunes : Gore-Grunta Fur. Im pretty pleased with how the paints work, and as i have been using washes extensively in my painting for years, they feel familiar and i know what mistakes can happen. Using them is a skill just like using washes and results may vary, but over all i think they are great! The Lighter tan feathers are a bit of a mess. I had planned on having them lighter, and made a thin wash to use over white, but it looked bad and i had to wash them again and that made them darker than i wanted, but i feel OK about it still. The teal feathers with lightning was the main thing i stile from Tomasz, and i think its very striking. I used the same teal that i have for the glow effects on the rest of my army, and i think it is enough to make the raptor fit in. I started from white, made some contrast paint out of hawk turquoise, some thick matt medium and some glaze medium and layered it over the white in several stages. I then used watered down coal black to darken the edges further. For the armor i went with a gold bronze mix. I washed it and then added citadel Nihilian oxide for some corrosion effects. The beak and feet are Moldy Ochre with reikland fleshshade over. I darkened the beak with a couple of browns towards the tip. The claws are black with bone added in for a bit of highlights. The gems are gnarlas green highlighted towards a bright green. They also have some gloss varnish on them (though i had forgotten that when i took the pictures). I did two small alterations to the model. First i removed the two giant antennae/blades from the back. I think they look silly. Much more subtly the claws on the model are supposed to be covered in metal and have studs on them. I think this loos spectacularly silly so i removed the studs and then painted them black instead to look more natural. I like this WAY better, but its a personal taste for sure. Im really happy that i have gotten the urge to paint back, and im painting most days now. I really love the feeling to long to have an hour at the painting table when the wife and son sleeps. I have another sone coming... two days ago according to schedule, so we shall see what happens to my free time when ever HE turns up Thanks for reading /T

The raptor looks great. I definitely agree with the choice to remove the metal claws, I didn't even realize you changed someyhing until you mentioned it.
I'm personally not a huge fan of the lightning wings, but they're well executed and very striking.
What'd you use for basing?
