And trenchers technically have a 16 inch reach with their guns. *Round of fire* What unit of Steelheads! If you time well the minifeat, they are Def 17 against shooting and blast immunity. Good luck shooting them down. Also, set defense is huge. EDIT: also, I get that maybe trenchers are all around better at a slightly higher price, but I really wanna try these mercs out. Also, I don't really like trencher infantry without UA and that makes their point cost stellar I don't think anyone is saying don't try them. We are just saying be aware they are typically sub optimal. Set Defense with Haley 3 means def 17 right?

In H3 i'd either want A&H to fix damage or Alexia1 for a extreme recursion. I think i'll try them out with siege2 tomorrow, see how it goes. On paper they look good with him. EDIT: I would also really play them in a HM list for some decent infantry or an infantry swarm SD with double blades+Halbies. That sounds interesting under both stryker2 and siege2.

I tried the halbies in siege2 GD and boy were they good. Shooting is nearly useless anyway at least in my meta (as far trencher shooting goes, dedicated lists can still try to do it but the counters are hard) and that 2 inches reach meant they could charge targets and hit them behind the trenchers, allowing for "double charging" and through fury hot swap i can delete heavy targets in one turn. Also, I have a lot of bodies. Much, much better than A&H an much more reliable.
EDIT: was playing aganst Kolgrima northkin theme, to just let you understand how much shooting was useless in my mete filled with stuff like that.
