I think you can understand why people may not want to play with an "Adolf" model?
I mean I can. But I could also see why people wouldn’t want to play with a lot of models. I just don’t think a mustache that resembles a certain person on a mini isa big deal.
Vaillancourt says it's just a shadow, not a mustache (his concept art does lack one), and there's no way he or PP would ever have approved hitler references. Which means they made a character named adolpheus and nobody thought to doublecheck that the art didn't end up looking like hitler, which led to the what the hell PP exclamation.
I don't think there would inherently be a problem with a hitler reference if used properly (the game was once vaguely WW1 and has moved on in time) but it's just not something you casually throw in. The Crucible Guard could definitely work for this sort of plotline with the whole turning-the-homeless-into-trancers thing and every weapon being against Geneva codes. They'd just need to lean in to that plotline; ie if Adolpheus ends up taking over the Crucible Guard, conquers llael rather than freeing it, and establishes alchemical death camps to farm warcaster serum.
