The theory here was that I am more than comfortable with Jaga Jaga into many opponents and our team lacked a really good Retribution drop. So I built Barnabas with that in mind. I didn’t end up seeing any drops that I really liked Barnabas into, so I played Jaga all tournament and went 4-0.
Game 1 - Breakdown

Farrow Valkyries [8]
Shifting Stones [3]
His other list was Kromac1 with Call of the Wild. He won the roll to go first and he took first. I took the side of the table with a rock wall. There was a large forest in the center.
Round 1 – Circle
He runs everything forward. His first turn takes an unusually long time. I assume at this point that he’s not very comfortable with this list. I talked to him after the game and he said he was just on the team because they needed a 5th player. He doesn’t usually play the game.
Round 1 – Minions
I run everything forward. I try to bait out his feat by giving him a few charges against Valkyries and I put one heavy within his feat/charge range. Also, I out-threat a lot of his army with my Swamp Horrors.
Round 2 – Circle
He is really only focused on setting up the assassination. So he postures and crams almost everything behind the forest. He does send up a Scarsfell to kill one of my Valkyries in the left zone, but he misses all but one attack and can’t finish off that Valkyrie.
Round 2 – Minions
He gets a couple dodges, but it ends up not mattering. Between Valkyrie charges, two Swamp Horrors, Skarath and Brine, I remove 4 of his Scarsfells, one Pureblood, and mangle the other Pureblood. And I’m able to keep Jaga parked outside of 12.5” and behind a wall. I was only able to clear the center zone.
0-1
Round 3 – Circle
He tries to clear out some space near my caster, but then realizes that he’s out of range. As he’s trying to clean up his turn, his clock expires.
Game 2 – Spread the Net
Jaga Jaga vs. Kreuger2 (Bones)
Krueger the Stormlord - WB: +27
- Megalith - PC: 20 (Battlegroup Points Used: 20)

Sentry Stone & Mannikins - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5
Sentry Stone & Mannikins - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5
His other list was Tanith with Wild Hunt. I won the roll and I took first. There was a wall just inside the center zone on each side. I knew I could hide a few models behind it and be roughly immuned to TK/Gallows shenanigans.
Round 1 – Minions
I run my army forward and put one Swamp Horror close enough for him to do his thing so he considers shooting on turn 1. I cast Battle Host for turn 1, but I dropped it for the rest of the game.
Round 1 – Circle
He takes the Swamp Horror, but has to contribute a large percent of his activations to doing it. So he doesn’t really advance his army far.
Round 2 – Minions
I was able to get Brine loaded up onto one of his Wold Warden. If he had been a hair over, I could have actually gotten onto Kreuger, but I figured the Warden was a good trade. I assumed he would feat this turn, so I put a few models in the zone so they couldn’t be pushed against the wall. I put Skarath in my zone and ran Dahlia to contest the flag on the right side. Skarath was able to remove the Gallows Grove on that side, so he couldn’t get anything over there for magic attacks on Dahlia.
Round 2 – Circle
He decides not to feat. He tries using a Wold Wyrd to shoot Dahlia, but doesn’t have enough to get through her transfers. Megalith wrecks Brine and puts up his animus. He decides not to feat this turn and doesn’t contest my zone. He scores his zone.
(1-1)
Round 3 – Minions
I run a solo to my flag, Dahlia runs back because he moved Kreuger enough to not make the same mistake next turn, but I forgot to heal Skarath, so I ended up just spraying a couple Mannikins. Some Valkyries half kill the remaining Wold Warden and I send a Swamp Horror with Rage in to kill Megalith. One unit of Valkyries charges to contest his zone and kill a Gallows Grove there. He’s out of arcnodes.
(3-1)
Round 3 – Circle
He realizes that he has to feat this turn, but it’s too late. He doesn’t have enough attacks to clear the center or my zone. He spends way too many resources trying to kill a couple Valkyries jamming up his face. But with the feat he clears his zone and gets me off my flag.
(4-2)
Round 4 – Minions
I run to contest his zone. I get back on my flag. And I clear the Mannikins he has in the center to score there and win.
(7-2)
Game 3 – Outlast
Jaga Jaga vs Old Witch2 (Winterguard Kommand)
Zevanna Agha, The Fate Keeper - WJ: +27

Winter Guard Field Gun Crew - Gunner & 2 Grunts: 0
His other lists was Butcher3 (Jaws of the Wolf). This table had an unusual amount of LOS blocking terrain. There was an obstruction in the center. Two clouds and two forests. I lost the roll and ended up going second. I took the side that also had a wall.
Round 1 – Khador
He run everything forward. Puts out his upkeeps.
Round 1 – Minions
I run Brine right up behind the obstruction. I figured I would threaten Old Witch and I was pretty sure he couldn’t get at me with his jacks, but he saw and angle I didn’t. I also had a couple shield guards backing him up.
Round 2 – Khador
He uses his feat to set up a Brine assassination and puts some damage around my army with Winterguard (this was a mistake). He noticed after he finished most of his activations that Old Witch was within 13” of a Swamp Horror that was hiding behind a forest. He tried to put guys in the way.
Round 2 – Minions
I saw an opening. After the Valkyries vengeance forward. I run them up. I give everything to the Swamp Horror; Ghostly, Rage, Signs & Portents, Puppet Master. I feat to put some damage on Old Witch who is only camping 1. I also remove a couple key models standing my landing spot. The feat is able to knock off Old Witch’s camp and do 3 damage. From there, the Swamp Horror is able to get the job done with just its tentacles. But I did miss one attack and another bounced just to make the tension palpable. Assassination Victory.

Game 4 – The Pit II
Jaga Jaga vs. Orion (Destruction Initiative)
Eminent Configurator Orion - WJ: +28

- Corollary - PC: 6
- Monitor - PC: 16
Transfinite Emergence Projector - PC: 19

Elimination Servitors - 3 Elimination Servitors: 0
Elimination Servitors - 3 Elimination Servitors: 0
Elimination Servitors - 3 Elimination Servitors: 0
Attunement Servitors - 3 Attunement Servitors: 0
Optifex Directive - Leader & 2 Grunts: 4
His other list was Axis with a bunch of Conservators and Inverters. I take first turn.
Round 1 – Minions
I run all of my beasts forward in a conga line as far as I can, but make sure that the front beast is in range of multiple shield guards. The front beast was Skarath with Grave Wind behind a forest. I intentionally didn’t rile any of them this turn. Jaga had Battle Host up.
Round 1 – Convergence
He advances just enough to put some shots into Skarath with Orion and Mage Sight, the Modulator, and the Prime Axiom. I shield guard the Orion shot. He’s not in range for Tow Cables.
Round 2 – Minions
I upkeep my spells and I reposition my army around the forest towards the left zone. I send Rorsh and Brine to the right. Still no fury on my beasts.
Round 2 – Convergence
He tries to put a few more shots into my army with the Prime Axiom, but he realizes that he can’t close on me in this state, so he starts to shift towards my right side. At this time, he doesn’t put anything into the center zone to contest. He puts 2 servitors into the right zone, but that’s it. He destroys my objective with a TEP.
(0-1)
Round 3 – Minions
I use Brine to destroy the two servitors and have Rorsh Souie him back. The Valkyries and Skarath clear the left zone and I run a unit of Valkyries into the center to score.
(4-1)
Round 3 – Convergence
When I Souied Brine, Rorsh wasn’t far enough away. He sends in a TEP under feat and kills them both. He is also able to draw a line of sight on the Valkyrie behind the forest and he clears the center zone. He sends a few Servitors to contest my zone.
(4-3)
Round 4 – Minions
Now that his feat is out of the way, I send a Swamp Horror fully loaded in to kill off his Optifex Directive and half-kill his Prime Axiom. I’m able to clear my zone. And contest the center, but I can’t get anything into the right zone.
(5-4)
Round 4 – Convergence
He gets a little greedy and tries to kill too many things with the Axiom and his Modulator. So he ends up killing one Swamp Horror, but leaves the other alive. He is barely able to get the Modulator into my zone with the Reposition after I missed a free strike with a Crippled Mind. But due to an activation error, he wasn’t able to get Orion into the zone to score the center.
(5-5)
Round 5 – Minions
He is behind me on time by a turn. He has blocked me off from getting anything into his zone again. But my Wrastler is able to finish off the Prime Axiom and half kill the Modulator. The living Swamp Horror is able to take out on of the TEPs and finish off the Modulator. I contest the center heavily.
(6-6)
Round 5 – Convergence
He is super low on time. He’s down to his caster, Corollary, and a TEP against 3 of my remaining heavies. So he does some attacks to try and get points in the center zone. Can’t clear it. Runs a servitor to contest my zone. And he clocks.
