For those interested, these are the last 3 days to partecipate to the Black Rose Wars kickstarter, a boardgame full of fantastic miniatures: I have tried the game at a con, and I can testimoniate that the game is very fun and that the component and miniatures are gorgerous (I can't wait to paint them). If you have any question about the game, I'll try to answer, otherwise, don't miss it!

Either pray to Menoth or feel his fury. You'll burn either way.

How similar is it to gloomhaven?

I never played to Gloomhaven, but from what I have read they are quite different. Black Rose Wars is an arena-style game of battle between mages, with a deckbuilding component (since you create your own grimoire drawing from up to 16 different schools of magic). You play on a hexagonal map where every room of the "lodge" has unique powers to activate, and you compete and fight against others to get control over the Black Rose (the artifact that belongs to the Grand Master of the guild). You can summon creatures, do quests, attack directly other mages or manipulate the battlefield to gain power points and get closer to victory.

Yeah, that was a great looking project, but I just didn't have the funds to spare, unfortunately . Maybe they'll allow some form of late pledges, then I can hop in.

I actually pledged and I am looking forward to this game and miniatures. At first I went "whoa, that's an expensive game!" but then I remembered that I play WM&H and it turned out to not be that bad in comparison Nice thing is, it's potentially a 6 player game. So if you have a regular group you can easily split the cost (that's how my group bought Scythe, for example)

Have just received mine. I have to admit I expected lower quality of miniatures in a board game. Most of them look great and I can't wait to paint them. And play the game, ofc

And play the game, ofc I would be interested in seeing photos; I'm always tempted by these kickstarters of miniature-filled boardgames but I'm always cautious because the images are all renders and I have a hard time how the final plastic models will end up looking. The TMNT boardgame minis were pretty decent, but then they have a cartoony style and were not trying to be too detailed.
