So I’ve been looking at the week 5 CID rules for Trancers and wondering if they were worth using and what list they would work with. I realized though that I’ve never been in a game where smite came up and am unsure what all happens. From what I’ve read it seems like if you hit a model they get slammed 1d6 inches back; moving half distance if a larger base. If they hit an obstacle, obstruction, or equal/larger base they take an additional 1d6 to the damage roll. Also this damage is boostable so a charge can increase the damage.
So if the Trancer is ignored they can charge in and if the slammed target hits an obstacle/obstruction/equal or larger base they would take a single 14 + 4d6 damage roll (1d6 for charge, 1d6 for running into something). Then anything they landed on would take collateral damage equal to their str.
Am I understanding this correctly? If the final rules are the same does anyone plan on using them? I love the concept I just am not sure how I should be using them.

Very minor detail. Collateral damage only happens if a model gets hit by an equal or smaller base. slamming a small based model in to a large base model will leave the large base model unhurt (though the small based model is most likely dead lol).
I ran 4 trancers in most of my lists, and that worked very well. At 3 points and counting toward free solos they seem like a good option. Ignoring them is not a good idea, and dealing with them is more trouble than one might think just looking at their stats.

You are correct you will get 4d6 if they hit something or a model equal/larger than them. Scary!
