Maybe its because I'm new here, but I like shoe's silliness as it gives a bit of variety. Regardless, I've not read anything posted by him that really warrants this group attack on him. The comment that started this may have been a bit borderline to be fair, but the venom that some of us are throwing him for it is starting to also toe/cross that same line (although I'm sure shoe just laughs it off). Even without seeing his CID posts, he has come over to me as someone who while a bit silly and trolly does usually contribute. It can get slow in forums as it is without pushing people out (which is why I get that the comment that started this was off-putting as it also can scare people from contributing), so I don't really like seeing this whole thing.
Dammit I was trying so hard to stay out of this lol...
Anyway on the Earthbreaker, it is too big for me and people I play currently don't have large bases either. I also like drillers and gunbunnies more.

I value shoe's (little s) presence on the board (something I have posted before), but this particular exchange and a couple others have resulted in negative experiences for other posters. I feel that it's important that we be able to communicate about what kind of culture we want our board to have, and my effort (possibly a failed one, continued apologies) was to explain what I think enhances and promotes our board and what kind of things push people back to lurking/inactivity. Again, apologies if that came off as an attack. As for the earthbreaker, I accidentally got gifted 8 bunnies, so I have only ever proxied it and feel that it is the poster child for "gargossals < flexibility/numbers" in most cases.

He doesn't... He's not a dwarf and we can't jack marshal it on Thor. Heh, I was wondering how long I would have to wait for someone to take the bait... Glad to oblige.

I have found everyone here so far to be reasonable enough, and your manners and ideas have made posts have been a cobsistantly been positive read. I was deliberately vague to avoid calling anyone out, so please do not feel as if I was picking you out (this goes for everyone) as I definitely did not mean that. I was trying to comment more on the general atmosphere that was developing, and may have done poorly in my attempt to do so. I agree with your beliefs on building a positive experience on these boards and applaud your explanation. I agree completely with your assessment of the colossal problem. Hopefully they'll find a good common ground so people who play nonhuge and those who play huge can both be happy

They are potent without being overwhelming, a lot of them have interesting supportive rules, and are at a distinctly reasonable cost for the benefit they provide. Gargossals on the other hand end up feeling like "what if we crammed two heavies and a light together and made it cost the same as two character jacks?" The answer is frequently just underwhelming. They feel like giant stat sticks limited by, ironically, their size.

I agree Xintas. I like where Battle Engines are. They're like a Heavy and a Half, where they don't have the cool rules or raw output of a character heavy, but they're fatter and more mobile then just a generic heavy. Good place IMHO.
Colossals are in weird place where they just cost SO MUCH for what they do. If you could get a bargain basement one that was just 30 but lost either a bunch of health or its guns they could work.
Case in Point: Blightbringer.

In regards to the Earthbreaker and the dwarf battle engines it’s very clear that the battle engines are waaay better. For two less points I lose out on a little bit of melee, gain more ranged power, gain support abilities, no focus requirement from an already focus strapped caster, and gain more health... I gain more then I lose for less points... it’s just so hard to justify :/

Partial Fantasy. -warning- If I may, I'd like to perpose a model for Rulics.
A Rulic Journeyman Warcaster. Stats (same as TAC models. +1 mat) Focus 3 and Feild Martial "Long Leash" Spells. Quicken (Strakov 2) and Open Fire (malokove 2)
I know this odd but would something like that help the faction but not me a auto include?

While I love the idea of a journeyman for Rhul, I have stated somewhere else in the forums it probably wouldn't work. Also with Quicken I mean it would totally help the EB... but having two pow 21 melees that can threaten 14 inches (4 base + 3 charge + 3 Ossrum Feat + 2 Quicken + 2 inch Reach) might be something that PP tries to avoid...

Eh, we can do worse in Khador, so it wouldn't exactly be pushing the limits? Same with retribution having lights punish a distance of 15 inches from start. Gryphon spd6 +2fleet +2mobility +3charge +2inch melee =15 inch threat that under feat and jack martial and consintrate power hit at p+s 17 weaponmaster(flank) at mat 8 so hows a colossal being broken? Hell with Sorcha 0, and Vlad 1 a basic khador colossal has a 15 inch threat pre guns. Spd4 +4(feat) +2 boundless charge +3 charge +2 reach =15

Hmmm... maybe you're right. Though the Gryphon only gets one shot (as it has to spend to charge doesn't it? and it costs a focus to get the +2 spd), and the Earth breaker has two initials, and 2 remaining focus. Also less health... that Gryphon is dead next turn for sure... the EB... maybe not depending on what it flew into. As for the Khador Colossal... you got me there, but I don't play enough against Khador to weigh in on theirs :/
