So, I wanted to try an join in the CID (I know its still going on), because Crucible Guard looked really cool. However, I have been drowning in schoolwork. AND I'm about to start a new job. So, I doubt I'm going to have a chance to play any games while the CID is still going (of course, I could just try it out even after the CID is over, but, whatever). Anyways, my question is, would this faction be a good secondary faction for a Legion player? I currently have no experience with any other factions, as none have appealed to me aesthetically. Getting used to systems and focus would be difficult, however I planned on choosing a warmachine faction as a secondary faction EVENTUALLY, so I was expecting to deal with that anyways.
So, yeah, appreciate feedback.

If it's the only Warmachine faction that appeals to you then it's a perfect secondary faction. Mini-factions are good in general for secondary factions since there's not a lot of upkeep, but if you don't like the other Warmachine factions you certainly shouldn't play them.

My main concern is just how different is the gameplay? Obviously theres a difference between warmachine and hordes, but would I struggle to adapt to the faction? I do want a different style, mind you, but I also want to know what I'm getting into beforehand.

You should fire up vassal or get some suitable proxies and give every caster in the faction 2 plays each and see how you feel

I would say they're probably different, but not entirely. They're still going to primarily do their work at range but likely with more of an infantry focus for the most part. They have a much smaller stable of warjacks but most of them have a fair amount of utility. In addition, they're going to spend a lot of time applying debuffs before making attacks so their order of operations is probably similarly important to Legions, though with the support going first to apply debuffs rather than last to clear Fury.
I'd say that's a pretty good mix of familiar and new, at least on the surface. Will probably give you enough similarities to not be completely lost.

The final rules have not been released (mackay in particular seems likely to change). That being said, here's the final week of CID.
