I'm not going to build a list around this spell, but c'mon, this is Ret, it's way too powerful to ignore.
My gut says AFG, double shot, double value on an already superb platform. But then I think about Garry and what he wants to do.
Daemon? I know he's not super popular but with two hellmouth shots he can do some really weird things to open threat lanes and assassination vectors. Banshee? Always solid gun, just a good 'jack to bring along Harpy? The gun is really good, two shots is twice as good right?
Or, go even crazier, is it worth putting on a HRT? or an Eiyrss? Both of those seem like they could be terrifying, but also pretty easily killed, and you really only want to cast Sentry once.

Sentry specifically allows ONE ranged attack, so (unless I am missing something) the AFG or Hydra do not get both shots. That said, an extra AFG shot is stil very useful. I have tried it a couple of times myself.

All the heavies are rat 5, which makes them the least desirable sentry targets. If all you have is a banshee then that's a good target, because the knockdown could have tremendous value. But overall there are better places to put it.
The AFG is at the top of the list. Rat 7 is usually enough to hit most things and give you a decent chance at everything else, and the 3 shot types provide a lot of utility. Following that is Eiryss1, because 2 auto-damage shots or disruption shots are nice, and rat 9 basically means you always hit. Bring 2 ghost snipers and you can do 12 damage to a model every turn, which is pretty good.
Other than those two the HRT is a good choice since it gets boosted out of activation. The Hyperion is also a decent choice, even though it is rat 5.

My favorite sentry target has been Eiryss1. Being able to deny enemy locks focus and then disrupting or sniping a UA/solo on the same turn is so much fun.

When the AFG (or Harpy) activates normally, they get two shots due to having RoF 2. Unless I am reading something wrong, Sentry will only allow them to take a single extra shot (not two extra) during the Maintainance Phase. When you wrote "double shot, double value on an already superb platform" it led me to believe that you presumed it would get two extra shots. The AFG is probably still at the top of Sentry targets (along with Eiryss) but it makes the Harpy somewhat less attractive.

Daemon is the best because it also pulls your own models.

I had a list of models in my head and not taking into account the ones that got ROF2. AFG really does seem like the clear winner by and large, that gun is just so punishing. If I could get an out of activation focus on a Daemon he would intrigue me a lot more, but I still might run some tests anyways. Eiyrss3 might not be the worst either, although ironically, none of my Garryth builds use the mage hunter theme. Looked at 2, but was struck again by how they kneecapped her from mkii and I just can't get past it. It is interesting with purgation if you can have two shots at something a bit tankier. I'll take a d3 damage for my upkeep basically all day, but will I take two AND let you get the boosted damage? Not sure. Probably too cute to be good though. Moros was not terrible, Rat6 vs our usual 5. And double paralyze into the heavy list I dropped him was pretty effective. I just kept pinging two heavies and dancing right outside their advance and attack range. A pity Disco isn't allowable anywhere, or I can't put it on Skarath, those sprays could be effective.
