While painting my Llaelese Resistance army, I've also started on an Ossrum battle group. The theme is trench warfare and WWII inspired jacks. Lot of Olive Drab with writing on the -eventual- siege crawlers/tanks. The drillers will have the shark teeth paint pattern and the gun bunnies all get custom pin-up nose art decals featuring, well, bunnies. First up is a headless Ossrum (Thinking I might cut his head for a hat swap to make him look the a bit more MacArthur-esq) and my WIP Driller with free hand test Forgeguard emblem on the base. Thoughts, criticisms, and compliments always welcome. Also, apologies for the cell phone picture. It it doesn't come out well enough, let me know and I'll see if I can get better pictures.

Oooh, that has a lot of potential- I like the way the Driller is shaping up, especially!

Lovin' that base with the theme Thanks. The trench wall base for Ossrum was actually a little more difficult to pull off than I thought it would be. The base starts on a 30mm base, but the walls flare outwards a bit to give Ossrum more room on top. I wanted him elevated from the rest of the army to make him easy to recognize. And nothing says lead from the front like a general standing over the trench.

Looking forward to the freehand writing / images. I'm not usually a big fan of very tall bases, but that one on Ossrum's base has me intrigued to see where it's going.

While I finish painting the jacks, I keep looking over at Gotten and I find myself wanting to make him a wall.
The question is, should it be: 1) a sandbag wall, 2) a mini trench wall -with or without the earth on one side, 3) some sort of palisade/tank trap/cheval de frise, 4) a concrete "Jersey" barrier -maybe with some barbed wire on it, or, 5) just a basic rock wall -nothing fancy?
I want something that would fit in theme and all of these likely would. At first, I was a little worried that the look of them would make it difficult to distinguish from regular terrain, but I think I can add little runes or paint them in a way to make them look magical in nature.
A stupid question: What are the length and depth of the wall? The height is 1", as per the rules for "obstacles", but i cant fond the other measurements on Gorten's War Room card or the linked rules.

0.75" by 4" (https://privateerpressforums.com/archive/index.php/t-253028.html)
From template measurements
[EDIT: From the same thread, apparently the battlebox template is smaller, I'll double check later this evening. EDIT2: The card fold up from the mk3 battleboxs is 1" by 3.5" and the template from the basic training is 0.75" by 3 9/10"ish from my measurements.]
I went with stones myself when I made one to match the rock/earth theme of Gorten's magic, and would personally go with that even with your theme but that's just me and you can always try a few out to see what you like best (anything left is scatter)

Thanks, Fang. You'd think that'd be in War Room somewhere...

Yeah? I wanted it to look more loke a Howitzer and less like a Bombard. Though my green stuff joints could definitely use some work. Hopefully a bit of smoothing and a coat of paint will make it look a little cleaner.

Hopefully a bit of smoothing and a coat of paint will make it look a little cleaner. I wouldn't have noticed the joint issues if you hadn't pointed them out. They do look to be in a tricky spot to work in. It's a minor issue at best, and will be barely noticeable when painted.

A wet tool would help for future projects I think (wet finger if you have the room). For now, Gesso primer will fill the cracks and holes right up (might take a second or third layer on the worse spots)
