Played Ashlynn with the full Trencher Commando boat the other day, Quicken means they threat pretty far with their sprays and grenades, also takes less time to play than the cloud wall Infantry

Just to toss the idea out there, cost effectively (real life money) you can get a hold of a unit of stormguard (2player box) and stormblades (CoI starter) for pretty cheap. While I doubt that it is a great (or even good) choice (although native pathfinder and quickness could help these guys), what do you guys think about the potential just for the sake of being easier to obtain irl? You don't get the blade CA in the package but that isn't quite bank breaking (though still a bit too pricey if you are looking to save), likewise you could get a silverline upgrade kit for a similar price (maybe magnetizable?). If you get both, they have a bit of synergy (silverline buffs a bit of damage on assaulting blades). I’ve never been huge on trenchers, so I’m excited to be able to use the cloud wall once CG comes out with Ashlyn. 7 points for the alchemists and either 4 / free for Gorman makes a four man cloud wall that’ll also look boss on the table! That sounds pretty fun, although facing similar point filling problems as I face when I think about PoM so what do you currently like as the second unit with Ashlynn? Fang mentioned multi-wound and Hot Meal. In PoM, unless I'm forgetting something, Bastions and Cinerators are the only two non-calv options for multi-wound. Of the two, I think I like Bastions more (On paper. I have not played PoM in LR.) I'm waiting for a few weeks before I make my final decisions on Bastions/Cinerators. The entire Exemplar sub-faction is going into CID in May. I was not impressed with either so far, but they need help badly. I'm definitely looking forward to that CiD, I might even proxy some LR games to test the models (dunno how well a merc testing their models in a merc theme would go over though ) Played Ashlynn with the full Trencher Commando boat the other day, Quicken means they threat pretty far with their sprays and grenades, also takes less time to play than the cloud wall Infantry That looks pretty fun glancing at the cards, did you go with two fully decked out units or just one?

Seeing as how the models are open to more uses than usual, this will help them greatly. The more feedback they get, the better. Plus cross-faction balancing is rough some times, so this will help.

That sounds pretty fun, although facing similar point filling problems as I face when I think about PoM so what do you currently like as the second unit with Ashlynn? I was thinking something around the lines of the following; Ashlyn +29 - Vanguard 10 - Vanguard 10 - Toro 13 -Sylys (free) CG Storm Trooper 16 CG Alchemists 7 Thorn Gun Mages 9 Thorn Gun Mages 9 Gastonne 4 - Vanguard 10 Ellish 5 Gorman 4 Gibbs 4 Colbie Sterling 3 Rhupert (free) Harlan Versh / Ragman (free) Rhupert hands out tough rather than pathfinder, and I'd go Ragman... except I don't own him so Versh it is! I also got a mechanic to repair damage dealt to the shield guards via Colbie, and the Gun Mages to help out as the lines close, and eventually shoot things off of the Storm Troopers. Toro incase I need a little bit of heavy lifting done, and with Gorman (and again possibly Ragman when I get him) the Vanguards can hit decent against some armor if need be. Using Terrain, Pathfinder from theme, and Ashlyns Vet leader... I should have a fairly fast and accurate force that hopefully can cripple the enemy on approach, and doesn't have to worry about return fire because of cloud wall.

Seems pretty light on the hitting power, but I like the concept. I'm not sure where I would play this over the Cygnar version though, which is what I always come back to when looking at other faction in LR.

Since Ashlynn gives out pathfinder to her BG, why bother with so many Vanguards? Shield guard is nice, but beyond that, you're relying on the Toro to do all the heavy lifting.
What about:
Ashlyn +29 - Vanguard 10 - Nomad 11 - Toro 13 -Sylys (free)
CG Storm Trooper 16 CG Alchemists 7 Thorn Gun Mages 9 Thorn Gun Mages 9
Gastonne 4 - Vanguard 10
Ellish (free) Gorman 4 Gibbs 4 Rhupert 4 Taryn (free) Colbie 3
Taryn shoots better than Harlan and gives a better toolbox. Plus this maximizes the solo free points.

I find this lack of Ragman disturbing... I find the presence of Colbie even more disturbing, but hey good for him for not playing with proxies. Proxying non-CID models is an abomination.

Taking this list to a tourney this weekend, all the solos and troops are def 13+, which is reaching the sweet spot for Ashlynn's feat. The issue I have found in the past is the accuracy of the Manglers outside of feat turn, which is why I now have the Buccaneer on Gastone to knock stuff down.
Mercenary Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Llaelese Resistance
(Ashlynn 1) Ashlynn D'Elyse [+29] - Mangler [15] - Mangler [15] - Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker [0(4)] Anastasia di Bray [3] Eilish Garrity, the Occultist [0(5)] Gastone Crosse [4] - Buccaneer [6] Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist [4] Major Harrison Gibbs [4] Ragman [4] Rutger Shaw, Professional Adventurer [4] Taryn di la Rovissi, Llaelese Gun Mage [0(5)] Storm Lances (max) [20] Trencher Commandos (max) [15] - Trencher Commando Officer [4] - Trencher Commando Scattergunner (3) [6]

Proxying non-CID models is an abomination. I find this statement disturbing. What's wrong with trying a model in a friendly game to see how it will work BEFORE you put the time, effort and money into buying and assembling the actual miniature? Or maybe you want to run a silly list just once for the lols and it calls for models you would never really use in a serious game, so you just use the closest thing you have for that one informal game against your best mate. Sure, if you've been proxying the same model in several dozen games for a couple of months then maybe it's time to put down the cash, but acting like the basic idea of proxying available models is a crime against humanity is a bit unfair.

I need to find a stand-in/proxy for Eilish. No way am I putting down $40+ for a solo. I'm thinking - THIS- dude from Reaper would work. Even has the same "weapons". On topic, though, I think I'd want Cygnar in my Ashlyn LR, Menoth with Crosse, and maybe... CG with MacBain? Godmode feat from MacBain on CG Troopers seems decent, maybe? Just theorycraft, but Boomhowlers's Revile to stand everyone up and Gibbs's Hot Meal to bring 'em all back to full seems like a pain.
