I'm sorry but I can't even comprehend that people actually require buffs to our colossals. Seriously? i legit havent even thought about wanting to buy the sepulcher or a dual kit and selling my kraken. people at least bought the bird garg from circle. as stated above, im not buying something that one *might* want to take in *one* theme

I for one wish I had bought the multikit instead of getting a Kraken second hand. Got plenty of lists where I would love to use the sepulcher.

I for one wish I had bought the multikit instead of getting a Kraken second hand. Got plenty of lists where I would love to use the sepulcher. I have a multikit (and a regular Kraken) and I rarely put even the Kraken on the table (only with select casters) and never the Sepulcher (played it twice in MK3). The problem with a colossal is that it costs 3 times a jack, but doesn't have 3 times the output. It does have certain advantages, like being immune to a bunch of things, but also disadvantages, like being seen from everywhere. In addition to that, it's not particularly hard to kill except with casters that specifically support it. If there is a caster that specifically supports it, they need to want to spend points on it and not be better off with taking more jacks because they have a good force multiplier spell or ability (such as Venethrax or Asphyxious 3). I think this leaves certain builds of Coven, Goreshade 3, Mortenebra 1/2, Skarre 2 and possibly Skarre 1, perhaps Aiakos as main contenders for running a colossal. They could conceivably all run in Infernal Machines if they really wanted to play a Sepulcher, but Cryx is still a melee faction first and foremost and usually the Kraken is better for that. Also, Infernal Machines is quite fun to play, but competitively it's our worst one. And it's not just our colossals; many factions don't feel like theirs are worth putting on the table, mostly for the reasons outlaid above. The more I think about it, the more I like the option of the Sepulcher being able to spawn Scrap Thralls from Corpse Tokens (D3 per token) because they would be much easier to deliver than from a Necrotech: charge into a mass of infantry, spawn Scraps and set them up for a chain reaction, then whack one of them and watch all the infantry die, claim souls/corpses.

Is the Kraken not seen as viable in Slaughter Fleet raiders? I was quite impressed by the combinations of eyeless sight and magical weapons with any of the Skarres?
I know that Skarre 3 is going to be perhaps the best example of this strength with guided fire, 2 shadow fire shots and the survivability which she gives her list with deceleration and reinforcements, but I'm still seeing the other 2 casters getting excellent results out of the Kraken.

It is, it's the single best theme for the Kraken as it fixes both its low MAT as well as its initial pillow fistedness, however, the theme force does nothing to protect it, so you probably still want a caster with an ARM buff. I think the best contender there is Skarre 2 as she often lacks high damage, really turns up its shooting and has Death Ward. Skarre 3 is a bad contender for the Kraken in my opinion. For the price of the Kraken, you can get 2 Leviathans and (almost) the Dirge Seers. I would much rather have her with a bunch of infantry that supported by jacks than having her with a Kraken and an additional 1-2 Leviathans. Slaughterfleet also inherently allows Kharybdis, which is also pretty nice with boosted sprays and Gang Fighter. I have a list I would like to try with her, but I must admit I haven't put it on the table yet, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

It's viable, just meh. Now that Kharybdis isn't garbage I imagine I'll likely be reaching for him in SFR before the Kraken if I need 4" melee
