PLayed against a really good player last night.
He ran
Borka 2, Runebearer, Northkin Bear Handlers x2, Stone, Trolls Basher x2, Roc, Long Riders (full), Fell Caller Hero, Lanyssa Ryssyl, Northkin Shaman x2
I ran Kraye Squire Hammersmith x2 Defender Charger Centurion Stormclad Aralan Jr Charger Long Gunners
I ran my Kraye Heavy Metal list. Once Borka popped his feat I was mired down. Even with Jump Start to counter the Stationary, I still lost on scenario. Borka 2 feat sucks to face. Give his guys stealth, makes your guys go stationary, and his BG gets counter charge. So with the stone way in the back of the field, it was tough.
I went second, and was close to charge range almost immediately, but he waited on his turn to move into my charge ranges, so I waited. I moved up, took shots, repo'd back. Even with Horsepower, I wouldn't have been able to reach his lines on my turn.
My question, is Kraye the right caster into trolls? Seems good for armor cracking, but that feat crushd me.

Kraye's feat can counter the stealth aspect of Bearka's feat, the problem with your list is you have nothing to apply Flare against Stealth models at range. I would advise dropping the Longgunners, I don't want to be disparaging but they really are utter trash. Instead try Minutemen with Kraye, they can apply Flare from 15" away (6" walk, 5" jump, 4" gun), and because the jump is a place effect not an advance, it will not trigger Countercharge.

So far the LG's have been great at dying. I was actually wishing I had Field Meks to fix jacks last night. I think the minuteman sounds interesting. So placing a model != to Countercharge and run, charge, trample, walk, reposition = Countercharge?

That is correct, any type of movement that is not a place constitutes an advance and would countercharge assuming that you end you movement within 6" of the countercharging model

While I like the idea of Minutemen, with relatively few shooting models in the list does being able to apply flare at range matter in this matchup? Frankly (as the Bearka player in question) I wasn't overly concerned about Chargers and Kraye, the Defender was a bit more menacing but not too bad. I've played the Bearka list into different Kraye builds and been ok into all of them. Really, the scenario and if I go first are the biggest determining factors. The game in question I was able to aggressively go for scenario and score 3 points in a turn while jamming.

I think next time I run Haley 3 and Patrol dog, or Seige and Patrol dog. Of course I need to get some trencher gear first, so that will be awhile.

Play more Centurions. Realize that you can imprint before charging, thus denying him the countercharges. Kraye should play just fine into Borka2, but like others have said, ditch the Longgunners.

Or play in GD and upgrade to tlong gunners and bring a dog... thatll ruin his day...
Note: I'm definitely not advocating bringing any long gunners with kraye, but seriously, if you're gonna take them, do it right!
