I should also mention, for those who haven't seen this before, someone did a great series on buying/building an army on a budget. For instance, here's the one for Neverborn: schemesandstones.wordpress.com/2016/08/21/building-on-a-budget-neverborn/Going with that Lilith + Lynch pairing (96$ MSRP), I have played both of those lists, and both have played very nicely against experience opponents. It's a great place to learn some basic list construction + tactics for the crew- wonderful for new players. I actually have a ten thunders box somewhere that I bought a while back to practice skin tones. I could probably just put that together and get learning! Yeah, definitely! Do you remember which box?

Uh....the rail...something? I've been calling it "the train dudes that I need to paint" for a few months now.

Sounds like Mei Feng, in the Rail Worker box set. She's pretty fun to use, as well- she's all about setting up combos during her activation- travel across the board, punch/kick/punch/whatever combo, then hopefully getting away. One of my friends runs her out of Arcanists, I think the only other thing he bought to use her was a Rail Golem.

I'm hoping to play Ten Thunders as I have a background in martial arts and always feel drawn to factions in games that do the same. Having cross faction possibilities is always nice too in case I don't like 10T.

If you're big into Martial Arts, 10T is probably a great thematic choice. Due to Mei Feng's Infiltration ability, she can hire quite a few non-10T models anytime, so long as they have the Foundry trait (so that's Metal Gamin, Rail Golem and Willie out of Arcanists, and Sparks and the Mechanized Porkchop out of Gremlins).
The difference between his list and a 10T list would be the upgrades, as he uses some Arcanist only upgrades, and you'd be limited to the 10T upgrades. Still, it would be a good, fun crew to run.

I know when i went to the LGS I was looking for the Shenlong (i think thats his name) box to practice some skin and cloth stuff. Plus he looked extremely monk-like and that's what I'm into. I ended up with Mei Feng and it sounds like I will enjoy her anyway! What should I pick up to possibly run some Shen/Mei stuff?

If you have the Shenlong box and the Mei Feng box, you actually have the ability to play two good crews by mixing the models between them. I've seen a lot of intro lists talk about the Lone Swordsmen, who's an 8ss model who can go after the most troublesome pieces on the opposite side of the board. Having a pure beater on the table doesn't hurt.
I've never actually played against Shenlong, but I believe Lone Swordsmen has a place in his list as well. If you have Mei + Shen + Lone Swordsman, you have two very playable masters and the ability to handle most game strategies pretty well.

Do all models come in a leader box?

Nope! You have several types of releases. The boxes with Masters (Mei Feng, Shenlong, etc etc) have the master, and several models that work well with the Master (as well as unique upgrades for that Master).
There are also non-Master releases- The Lone Swordsmen is a single model release, but there are also releases like the Yokai, for Ten Thunders, that come with three Yokai (because you can take up to three in a list). All of the models in the faction work with one another- for instance, you get Kang in the Mei Feng box, but you can certainly take him with Shenlong.
There are also 'Encounter Boxes' that have a variety of models. These are also legal models with rules, and usually a unique scenario you can play. I have never bought one, myself, but like, people certainly do.

I generally order from Miniature Market, but I'm in the US. If you aren't in the US, I have no idea. But MM has great prices, usually.

I also play a fair bit of Malifaux. Its my "other" game and the counterpoint to WM/H. Its not got as much of a following in the UK as it seems to have in the US and (oddly) Australia, but in the major towns and cities you can always find people playing and all the major online retailers stock it.
My only criticism is that I wish Wyrd would advertise better in the wargaming community. Its an amazing game but they seem to be happy t let it bimble along organically. But at least it still has its Henchmen program. Unlike some companies we could mention........
