Hello Lormahordes. I write a blog called Ghyrrshyld's Return (named before it turned out he was a bit uninspiring...) which is mainly battle reports with Retribution. I'm up to 146 games now after a year of writing, and feel like the process of writing up the reports has really improved my ability at the game Feel free to go and peruse and come back to me with any comments you have ghyrrshyldsreturn.blogspot.co.uk/Thanks

Your battle-reports are well written and I´m enjoying them (it´s one of my favorite sites). Because of you I´m considering Destors. Thank you very much!

Very interesting battle reports. Would you care to explain the thinking behind your Ghyrrshyld list(s)?

"thinking" may be too strong a word for it. I had just come off the back of 14 straight games with the same pair (a lot for me) and wanted to play something different. I wanted to try Goreshade again, and love the Ellowuyr models, so thought about how I could build a list around it. There are a few nice bits of synergy in there which I liked.
-Frost Field on the Swordsmen makes their Defensive strikes Mat9 which is good enough to hit almost anything -Serpent's Coil doubles up pretty well with Goreshade's feat, meaning either one turn of excellent area denial, or 2 of moderate -DEF15 isn't particularly special defense against shooting these days, but Goreshade's feat getting them to 17 pushes them to nice numbers
Other than that I just filled it with tried and tested combos (double manticore, Eiryss+AFG) and tried it out. In the game however I quickly remembered that blast damage kills Ellowuyr incredibly quickly, and so went for the risky assassination that thankfully worked out. Goreshade, unfortunately, is really bad.

I'm having trouble figuring him out. I've considered filling his list with shooty jacks and units for Backlash, but Kaelyssa seems better for that and Phantom Hunter is easier to use than Mage Sight. Frost Field is great for countering DEF spam, but thats pretty rare. Ghost Walk would be good on Sentinels, but he has no real way of delivering them. The feat makes me think that a fast melee list (Halberdiers with Thane?) would be good, but as with the Sentinels he doesnt do anything other than Arcane Vortex to protect them.
My thinking so far is to take a combined arms list and keep an eye out for assasination opportunities. Which would look a lot like your list.

Let me say that your blog is really fun to follow. I'm hoping you keep it going for a long time, it really is a good read.
Your Kaelyssa list is vevy interesting. Do you feel like playing against a Kaelyssa Defenders with Double AFG would've been hard or where you equipped to face that particular list?
Also, would you be fine playing said list against stuff like Nemo3 and Zaadesh2?

Also, would you be fine playing said list against stuff like Nemo3 and Zaadesh2? Thank you, I certainly intend to keep writing for a while, I find it really helpful in terms of analyzing my games. Against double AFG it would really just be a matter of them being able to shoot off Helios before it gets into them. At DEF17 even when the AFG aims it still needs 6s to hit, and at dice-3 isn't doing invredible damage even when it does. Nemo3 is a tough one, but I've played it and won. All about controlling the Fireflies really, if you can keep them away from the Sentinels then electro leaps need an 11 to kill a Iron Zeal Sentinel, so only half (or one per shot) are dying. Helios is really tough for that list to get through as well, as he has to use focus/tokens to boost to hit, really reducing damage output. No real idea about Zaadesh, I am mainly pairing Kae with Vyros2 who I feel confident with into the Skorne lists I usually see (Mak2 cats, Tubby, Morkikaar) so would almost certainly drop that instead of Kae

Looking at some of the names, looks like a strong set of teams this year. All the best for the prep work to come!
