After skulking this forum after the change to the official forums, I decided to join in the topics here.
In MK1 I loved Mercs to bits , so I decided to go back to Mercs after a break.
For a while, I've been working on a Magnus 2 jack heavy list, to add in a 3 list pairing. Other casters will probably be Bart in a ranged jack heavy list and an undecided combined arms list. I intend to use it as an anti armour and jack-heavy attrition list.
The list (full 75 points used)
(Magnus 2) Magnus the Warlord - Mangler - Nomad - Nomad - Nomad - Renegade - Talon Gobber Tinker Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist Ragman Idrian Skirmishers (max) - Idrian Skirmisher Chieftain & Guide Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
What's the thoughts on this list, will it work or not? I've been thinking about Idrians as flanking unit, but have been doubting their functionality in this list.

That is a pretty standard jack-heavy magnus2 list as far as I can tell.
You are heavy on support but with Calamity + Gorman + Ragman + A&H you can stack some pretty absurd arm cracking if necessary. You could play around with dropping some of that support for other stuff but there's nothing wrong with taking all of them either.
I love Idrians with Mag2. They are really versatile. POW15 guns against preyed, calamitied target. They can take out a heavy cycle prey and repo back 13" away. I prefer them as a screen for my heavies to flanking.

That seems a solid list. You might want to try to fit Gibbs in there, as you have two-thirds of the LLael Super Friends (Ragman & Gorman), and they gain a lot from Gibbs giving them Repo 3".
Idrians are tough to use, but can be awesome. Choosing Prey and timing Go To Ground are the hard parts.

Nice, thanks for the feedback, will try the Idrians with him. Good to know they work well with him.
As for Gibbs, never thought about him in this list, but I really see your point, will try him in a game or two.

Looks a bit like the list I used at the WTC last year. Here's my take on Mags (currently adjusted because Alten Ashely got a point more expensive, which necessitated the downgrade for 1 mangler to a nomad but enabling Dirty Meg to be in there): conflictchamber.com/#bm1b5pcm5X5Z5F9v2T8P9n7m3G3H8MgvMercenary Army - 75 / 75 points (Magnus 2) Magnus the Warlord [+28] - Gallant [17] - Mangler [15] - Nomad [11] - Renegade [10] - Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker [4] Alten Ashley [6] Dirty Meg [3] Harlan Versh, Illuminated One [4] Kell Bailoch [5] Idrian Skirmishers (max) [15] - Idrian Skirmisher Chieftain & Guide [5] Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [8] Stockpile (Steamroller) [0] Lots of guns, lots of melee potential. Sniping out spirit or cortex is fun times and making a 'jack stationary with Meg increases survivability for your 'jacks.

Ran this list a few times this past weekend. Don't know how competitive it is, but it plays very fast and aggressive
Magnus2 Sylys Nomad x 2 Mangler x 2 Vanguard Renegade Talon Kell Bailoch Ayiana and Holt Acosta or Eiryss2
That's right! 13 models in the whole list! And the heck with guns! 12" threat / 14" run on heavies with escort. I built this list after a 4-hour slog fest with Damiano Kingmaker list. This is probably more of an assassination list, but still has some board presence. Will probably not do well against a ranged-heavy army. I played it against a Vyros2 Ret army and I would have gotten shot to pieces, but managed to get a shot on Vyros with the Renegade and finished him off with Kell and Vanguard.

Nice, two interesting lists. Will think about their contents while testing mine. Sylys seems sensible.

I like the Rover to hang back for Escort and Shield Guard. I'd fit him in yours over the Mangler

The Rover is a nice jack, but it seems like a lot of points as a baby sitter, but I will certainly consider it. If Magnus is too vulnerable it is indeed a good way of increasing Magnus' survivability, for a mere 4 points more than the vanguard.
I hope, due to the arcnode, I could try not to need it, due to keeping Magnus out of harm's way until the point where I engage the opponent with my jacks.
Not sure if I'd replace the mangler, though. Might have to go back to the drawing board if Mags is too vulnerable.

The nice thing about using the Rover as a babysitter though means you have a fairly heavy lifter for end game when playing for attrition. He's no slouch, that's for sure.

I'm not sure if you are generally playing for Assassination or not, but I love the Renegade/Freebooter combo for Attrition/Scenario. He knocks a bunch of stuff and 2 Freebooters can run in and absolutely ruin a couple heavies.

I'm not focusing on it, but it's at least one of the win conditions. If I would want to focus on it more, a buccaneer would be good too

I'm actually not terribly fond of the Buccaneer or Freebooter for assassination, personally. I like the two of them as attrition pieces, as they are a lot of boxes for very few points and together can punch WAY above their weight class. Plus, a Buccaneer going after a solo here and there doesn't feel like a waste of points.

(Magnus 2) Magnus the Warlord - Mangler - Nomad - Nomad - Nomad - Renegade - Talon Gobber Tinker Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist Ragman Idrian Skirmishers (max) - Idrian Skirmisher Chieftain & Guide Lady Aiyana & Master Holt I really like that original list. The only thing I would personally change is to remove Aiyana & Holt and replace them with SillyWilly and Gibbs

Thanks, Wishalnir is something I've been thinking about. Ayana and Holt can be very good, if you can pull it off. (Which generally is the problem..)
