Always looked fondly at Mr Arcadius and got a decent deal on a bunch of models leaving me with the ol doctor, 2 warhogs, a road hog, and 2 gorax. Want to run him primarily in WWFF but not sure where to go from this base to get up to 75pts (got most blindwater solos, as well as Targ, maximus, 2 effarit scouts and 2 gremlin swarms.) Any suggestions? My second list is likely to be Maelok posse spam in a 2 list tournament setting.

A lot of people run Arkadius with 5-6 heavies, usually including Dahlia and Skarath among them for Forced Evolution. I prefer to go heavier on the lights (heh), and only run two War Hogs and two Road Hogs. Back them up with a pair of Razor Boars or a Splatter Boar, the two Gorax, and two Gun Boars. Either route seems very solid.
The important solos are Targ, because Herding is often critical and Ancillary Attack is amazing when combined with Raw Adrenaline, a Gatorman Witch Doctor or two so you don't need to worry about terrain, and after that I usually like to focus on defensive solos (Orin Midwinter to prevent spell assassinations, a Bokur to do something similar for guns, Kwaak & Gub to Enliven your Warbeasts and make piece trades more difficult, etc.). I personally run a Mist Speaker because there are just too many lists where I feel I need Magic Weapons and Eyeless Sight to be able to play the match-up, but that will be meta-dependent and Arkadius has the tools to play around those issues a lot of the time. So it sounds like you've got most of it covered in the solo department. Bone Shrines, once they release, may prove useful and get Arkadius to actually cast Crippling Grasp every now and again, at least if you go second.

I second all that is said by Azahul, though I like to write my own point of view. Well, IMO there are some questions you have to answer yourself: 1. Do I want to go for 4 free Solos? Due to the fact that Arkadius has 32 warbest points (overall 107 points to spend) you´re able to get 4 free solos and still have some points for additional solos. If I´d go that route, my solos of choice are 2 Gremlin Swarms (paid by points), Hutchuk (free), Orin Midwinter (free) and the rest depending on the matchups you want to play him into and the general focus of the list (rather melee centric or assassination centric, see below). Good solos might be Mist Speaker (magic attacks), Croc Doc (ghostly). If you do not want to go for 4 free solos, you´re able to include some units / additional solos that might round out your list. Examples being Farrow Valkyries (shield guard), Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew (protection due to clouds), Bone Grinders (increased spell range, grievious wounds), Nyss Hunters (compliment the speed aspect of Dr. Ark and offer ranged attacks as well as pathfinder). 2. Do you want to run rather melee centric or combined arms or offer a strong assassination thread? Arkadius has Primal Shock which gives you the possibility of 2 fully boosted "ranged" attacks at power 11. Combine this with a Gun Boar, Targ and Raw Adrenaline, you now get 2 fully boosted power 13 shots in addition. Road Hogs offer a power 12 spray attack, meaning two road Hogs with assault are able to contribute 2 pow14 fully boosted shots. All this for a mere 45 points. Due to Arkadius Feat, the threat ranges are really high on all these shots. You can also run the melee assassination with either Road Hogs or War Hogs with a threat range of 17" inches nonlinear (Warhogs) or even 19" non linear (Road Hogs). In this case you could run some Croc Docs due to ghostly, though I never missed them before they got available to Arkadius. No matter which way you choose: Arkadius is really fun to play. Whenever I watch a video batrep, I immediately ask myself: what would I have done against these lists with Dr. Ark? He simply is my most loved warlock, my most fun experience. I´ve never had "bad" games with him, even if I lost. Due to his beasts gain overtake, he now might have an even broader line of matchups he can run. And there often is that assassination opportunity from far downtown... Love him. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. You can also read the batrep threads of Azahul and Gaston which offer lots of batreps and ideas relating to Arkadius. You can also look for Arkadius lists posted anywhere in the internet to get a feeling of what might work. ZK

Cheers for the informative responses chaps - my primary thinking was a melee centric heavy beast list to aid with armour cracking, especially against carapace heavy lists like black industries - with the main emphasis on hitting hard and hitting first. Been having problems with Gators getting a suitable threat range on their warbeasts when compared to say my opponents skorne. So was really keen on using Arcadius feat to increase threat ranges.
so a couple of questions immediantly jump out to me before I get a game or two in and test the waters. - Lanyssa worth it for hunters mark to increase those threat ranges to war hog 19" and road hog 21" ? or not really required. - any way to prevent knock down? (my opponent sometimes runs those annoying trolls that if you kill you get knocked down, or grymkin and their kill a model get knocked down annoyance.) - best way to get past/get rid of cheap screening units? (Battle boar?)

I think Lanyssa is worth more for free charges than distance with Arkadius. However, I seldom include her.
No KD comes from Brun, however I seldom include him.
Crippling Grasp and fully boosted sprays handle a lot of screening infantry. A Battle Boar or two doesn't hurt either. Dahlia prevents orders if you can keep her alive.

Lanyssa's biggest problem as a threat range increase is that she threatens 16" with Hunter's Mark, whereas the Warbeasts threaten 16.5"+. So she needs to be out in front, but with no AD and Speed 6 she ends up lagging behind them in WWFF by a good few inches after the Turn 1 run. She's still nice with Arkadius, but she ends up getting cut in basically every list I write.
There isn't really any anti-knockdown tech available among the pig models (well, besides Carver). Dahlia and Skarath do have the advantage of Skarath being Serpentine and thus immune, however.
I have a lot of models and ways to remove screens in my list. A pair of Razor Boars can kill 1-2 models each and Overtake to make sure your charge lanes stay open. Your Feat can actually take out a good chunk of a screen if your opponent tries to jam you up too close. Gun Boars and Road Hogs with Raw Adrenaline Ancillary Attacks and Primal Shocks give your plenty of ways to drop key models.

You definitely want Kwaak in there as well. Getting the alpha and avoiding the beta is just a treat! I think Arkadius is an awesome pairing for Maelok.
