We're (presumably) also getting the marksman llaelese ranged heavy that shows up in a no quarter prime 3 fluff piece Eventually. Remember when the Toro showed up in the IKRPG, and the Duelist showed up in High Command? How many years has it been now? (Heck, what about a plastic 3-in-one dwarfjack chassis? They're already 90% the same model!)

What's the fluff on GC manufacturing warjacks? Is the Vanguard being their creation new or was that always in the fluff? What about the Toro? gc made the vanguard and other variants from that chassis and still do. the toro is and ordic jack not made by gc. if they have taken over production for the model it isn't in the fluff. so far the vanguard and duelist are the only sure bets

On an unrelated note, I keep reading "GC" as Gun Carriage...

Toro would be cool, I assume it would be the faction's cheap beater though so I don't know that there would be much of a gameplay reason to have it as a Merc jack - I would like to be wrong though.

They did mention cg getting the toro in today's podcast thing; cg will have access to mercs as well.
It'd make little sense for it to be entirely unavailable to mercs given Rex

Especially if it's a chassis with multiple variations. Unless they are upgraded with GC tech I suppose. It would be cool to get Rex as a character jack, but I'm not sure that will happen for a jack that doesn't have a caster (although it wouldn't be unprecedented, eg. Behemoth). I just found this thanks to google: privateerpress.com/community/privateer-insider/insider-8-23-13That was the IKRPG during MkII, so things have changed since then, but it mentions the Toro chassis being Aggressive and having Counter-Charge. Does counter-charge on an affordable non-character jack sound like too much?

I think Galleon with Macbain would still be viable, Jackhammer allows you to boost the hit and damage with the Harpoon, and still have pseudo focus to wreck whatever you dragged in. If you can be safe from reprisal for a turn you can always have Fortune rather than Fail-Safe to ensure the Jackhammer attacks hit. Also it is super easy to set up Death Field from Ragman, so the Trident is bopping at pow 24.

You don't allocate any, you boost to hit the drag with powerup focus and the jackhammer to scrap whatever you pulled in. PS 26 scraps heavies quick.

It would just need a couple things to differentiate it from the Nomad.

But I can understand living life on the edge On an armor 18 jack/beast you can't fail... on a 19 you need not snakes... obviously if you're trying to pull someting like a Arcane Shielded centurion in you would allocate a focus to boost both...
