Hi,
I regularly see 1-2 Thrullg(s) in posted Maelok lists. What´s the reason? Why is Thrullg added to Maelok lists, but not really seen otherwise?

Maelok likes the high arm solos like Thrullg and Totem hunter; Arm20 8 boxes is decently tough. When running blindwater there haven't been many free options before so they get frequent use; Thrullgs are likely going to be cut in favor of the new shinies like the soul slave and longchops

Thrullg can actually benefit from all of Maelok's buffs.

Plus he brings upkeep removal to a list that doesn't have access to it otherwise.

For me it's the spell removal, disruption and magic weapons that make it a worthwhile toolbox.

Plus casting near a Thrullg send feedback to casters, 5 wound solos have to be careful. Add in Eilish and you have serious feedback from casting near or targeting near them. I have found with the Thrullg you can roll into a tightly packed group of enemy 'jacks. I've found Helga with Dash makes the Thrullg very effective in getting them where they can be very useful.

Disruption is the biggest benefit for me - but being an AD, prowl, Pathfinder mat 7 posse is also pretty awesome. Though it is really annoying that you can't spirit walk or puppet master him.

Also, watch out when using him on a target model/unit you have put under de-buff spells, or use it to remove the same from your own models/units. It can be handy to run Maximus with/near a thrullg.

I use double Thrullg with Maelok. I find that every time I cut them, I come across opponents who either use offensive upkeeps to cripple an expensive unit of Posse or I run into beast spam casting lots of Animi close to my front line (who the Thrullgs could have forced to stay back).
Admittedly, once the Void Leech is available that might solve the offensive upkeeps problem.
Anyway, my regular opponents frequently tell me Thrullgs are useless when we're theorycrafting, but when we then play they end up being the highest priority targets on the battlefield. Go figure :-D

Thanks for all your answers! I use double Thrullg with Maelok. I find that every time I cut them, I come across opponents who either use offensive upkeeps to cripple an expensive unit of Posse or I run into beast spam casting lots of Animi close to my front line (who the Thrullgs could have forced to stay back). Well, these sound to be good reasons, I just wonder why no one brings them with other warlocks. I do only see them in Maelok lists, nowhere else.

Rask and Calaban have other methods of stripping upkeeps. Not sure why Jaga Jaga lists wouldn't have either a Thrullg or Eilish; mine does.

You can protect it with the swamp pit if prowl isn't enough, and delivering disruption or knocking off a defensive upkeep can often win you a game against cryx and cygnar
