Hi everyone, I am relatively new to Cryx but I have played the game for several years (Circle and Legion). I have really been enjoying the different play style that Cryx brings when compared to my previous style of beast heavy lists. As I have learned about different Cryx play styles and casters I have run into one caster that still baffles me a bit, Terminus.
I believe I understand the basics of how he functions. The tough bubble providing resilience to your infantry, sac pawn keeping him safe from shooting, and him playing close to the front doing personal work to get the most work out of Malediction and his Feat. This leads me to my main question, what happens if the opponent doesn't provide souls? Off the top of my head this might be an enemy Cryx list or a Warjack heavy army just to name a few. Is Terminus just generally boned in these types of situations as he essentially has no Feat if the enemy has no living models? Or is there some interaction or general way that he plays in these types of matchups. Obviously one could look to dodge those matchups in a tournament environment (covering them with your off list), or play more carefully into those matchups, however, I was curious if there was any other feedback some experience Terminus players could provide.
Thanks!

You wont have much of a feat turn without souls and you will definitely not be powered as fully powered as he wants to be without souls, but his game plan pretty much remains the same.
Move himself and his cloud of disposable undead forward every turn until he can get a charge lane to the opposing caster. Anything that can deliver him better or anything that can enable his assassination run as things that he wants to bring along.
That being said, with the tough bubble, he can run a pretty mean attrition list. I mean with the recursion that ghost fleet can bring, or infernal machines can bring, and add tough on top of all of that, it is hard for some lists to deal with.
But as you surmised in your post, if the opposing list doesn't have any souls to give, you may want to drop someone like Skarre or Aiakos into them, someone that doesn't care about souls.

Thanks man, that makes perfect sense. Yeah, I have been absolutely having a blast with Double Wraith engine Skarre1, and was looking at some sort of Black Industries list to pair with her (Gaspy3 and Goreshade1 being my favs. That being said, now that Ghost fleet is nerfed and "nobody" will be playing it, I sort of want to continue playing it, lol (have to justify my investment somehow!). Terminus sounds like my kind of caster with that Man Mode feel and he seems like he gives Ghost Fleet a nice boost in the attrition game. Plus, Terminus now has that sweet sweet 27th Warjack point

Well if you do want to go Terminus Ghost Fleet, there are a few things to look for and consider.
Anything that can actually threaten terminus, the meat of your list is going to struggle against hurting it. Bring something that can hit hard or increase your damage. Be it rag man with dark shroud, or a couple of heavy warjacks, it will go a long way to keep terminus protected by taking out threats to his 18 ARM + camping 5 focus every turn.
Barathrum is a great character heavy and one I would consider pretty discounted for what it can bring to the table. Its hard to shoot with dig in, very mobile with advance deploy and counter charge and drag below abilities.
He is pretty immune to shooting and if you keep Rengrave close to him, I think you can sacrificial pawn to Rengrave, then call to sacrifice to another pirate further away, effectively increasing the range at which you can sac pawn. Then you can make your tough roll and see if they actually die.
Pistol wraiths can help control threats to terminus or enable his assassination run. Stationary targets don't get free strikes and stationary targets are auto hit in melee.
