In a bit of a funk, list-building-wise...
Theorymachined and list dojo'd a fair bit, and google-fu'd for inspiration, then had a look-see at the WTC lists, and saw Jon Fairs' lists...
In particular, Kaelyssa, double AFG, double Halbs... at first glance, how does this list look to you?
And as a general question, who (aside from Thyron & Ravyn to varying degrees) runs double AFG well?

Jon Fairs is probably the best Ret player still around so it would be nice to get his own input on the current meta, but the Kaelyssa double AFG is still a proven list. It brings strong control elements by allowing you to zone your opponent and is now even better with Harpies.
I'd say any caster can run double AFG, like Kaelyssa for example doesn't do anything for them and I also like to take one with Elara. They are just very good on their own. Polarity field and carapace make them unkillable and their output is very respectable. They also have great utility with blasted earth and the slams. They count towards the free points now so taking them is really prevalent.

Kaelyssa can still refuge them and they get stealth with the feat. And her gun, with dispel or stationary, can also be a big help to them.

I was thinking of hotswapping Refuge about so that they can shift their board control presence at the drop of a hat. Constantly aiming boosted POW 16's (seriously, I've one-rounded so many heavies in so few games, it's quite shocking to me!), and with the shot flexibility, is, at least on paper, really powerful. With a Banshee/Hydra battlegroup... profit? Still, I'm wondering about bringing in the lights, but I must be missing something. In fairness, using the AFG's, Banshee and Hydra has generally brought me to a ranged assassination or one-rounding enemy battlegroup models, when I'm fully aware you can use them to crock non-pathfinder infantry or reduce the threat of another BG model. Now, I've only ever played one AFG, and have been debating getting a second AFG for ages (especially since I'll be moving abroad to a non-WMH community area soon for a couple years)... It brings strong control elements by allowing you to zone your opponent and is now even better with Harpies. This generally/most/just a case of "get out of my zone"? Sure, can go solo/UA troubleshooting, but I'm still too attached to my Kae/Hydras/Banshees/some combination of them battlegroup... :/

While Kaelyssa seems like the ideal choice for double AFGs, we can always get creative.
It might be fun to try with Rahn. Telekinesis helps compensate for low SPD and constant aiming. You can also have yet another target with Polarity Field.
I imagine that Helynna could really bunker up with Deceleration and feat.
Issyria solves clouds/stealth on feat turn and can even lower DEF with Blinding Light (and/or Hemera).
I have seen double Halberdiers double AFG lists with Elara2. The battlefield control you get from shooting 4 4" rough terrain templates a turn (possibly on your own Halberdiers for added accuracy) is extra scary when the Retribution army becomes Ghostly on feat turn.

I'm currently trying 2 harpies in place of a Banshee and they can offer some advantages the heavy can't.
Harpies can take a heavy out of a zone with thunderbolt, something neither the AFG or the Banshee can do unless you destroy it.
The harpies can also fly which can be handy on a list that lacks pathfinder and has phantom hunter. Also, 2 harpies are 4 RAT6 P+S 13 shots vs a single RAT5 P+S 14 shot for the same price. I think they synergise better with the KD from the BE because the 4 shots, when the banshee is more of the same.
And they have 2 open fists that can also be useful sometimes.
Don't get me wrong, the Banshee is an amazing jack (probably our best) and it's still a fantastic threat with phantom hunter. But currently I'm liking the lights more.

Slight slip with the cheaper bit... it's the same cost, I think... Banshee 18 vs Harpies 2 x 9... Anyway, even ignoring that, the shot output is still worth consideration on a better RAT and with Flight, using Refuge (too many good Refuge targets, seriously...!) to be a real pain...

Lol, yeah... dropped the ball on that. Talking about harpies with probably the cost of sirens in my mind. Gonna edit the post. When thinking about the list, Refuge on the harpies sounded very good for me. In practice, on the few games I had with the list, I never managed to use it because the spell was in Kae herself (most of the time) or on a AFG (one or two times). Kae really likes to activate first because she wants to strip a defensive buff or make a jack stationary. The also likes to cast Phantom Hunter on the jacks, so that really messes with the refuge plan. That and focus... She's really strapped for focus. That's why the Hydra stayed in the list.

Did someone say HARPIES? They are about the only thing I'd be willing to replace destors with, so you know they're good But seriously, they are phenomenal with Kae. The Phantom Hunter efficiency is much better than with a banshee since you get 2 all-ignoring shots intend of 1. I find that a lack of pathfinder is something I often feel with her, and flight is huge there.

-_-
I misinterpreted Harpies in my head as Herpies for a split second and my inner monologue can't unhear or unsay it!
Anyway, got 2 Harpies to build, I'll try it out in an AFG Defenders list... -.-
