Do u find it helps much having 2+ forests on the board? I find that unless I get a restricted selection of terrain out to choose from, my opponents will manage to select as few forests as possible but I note all ur reports have 2 or 3 forests. I’m still loving the janky tactics u can achieve with Geomancy. Wish we could still do a fair amount of janky manoeuvres with our living beasts. Great reports as usual. Keep em coming thanks

There's a premade set of maps on Vassal, I just use those. My local area has always been incredibly terrain dense. I hated when sometimes I'd go to tournaments and find myself in a parking lot with open space everywhere. Honestly though I think it depends on my list and the matchup, with Krueger I absolutely enjoy high terrain density, with Bradigus I don't like it. Also, just cause there're 2 forests somewhere on the map doesn't mean they're relevant terrain. For example, in this game the forests were basically irrelevant:

Another Quickfire Report. My opponent had Vlad1 WGK and Karchev in Jaws, I opted to drop Bradigus and got Karchev. We racked up! I won first, ran up, put up Synergy, took a couple Pagani's because I still need practice with Brad's turn one. My opponent ran up, what I thought was pretty aggressively. I haven't played this matchup but I was sceptical if Karchev could tank Brad's Alpha. Although Countercharge makes it somewhat awkward. Mannikins bravely ran into the void to try and soak up Countercharges. Strength went up on both Guardians and a Watcher. Hunter's Mark went on 2 Heavies and I just kinda went in with everything. The damage I felt was pretty catastrophic. I did have to take a Countercharge on a Mannikin and one of my Watchers but thankfully it didn't lose an aspect. I killed 3 heavies and completely crippled (KD with no Cortex) 2 more. I also took the Cortex off the Juggernaut. I put my Stones up to try and leech some Fury and had my Watchers stay out front to try and protect my Guardians. Well, turns out Karchev punches back pretty hard, even when you cripple more than half his battlegroup. Karchev feated, charged a Watcher and murdered it. A Marauder charged through the now open lane and took my Guardian to a couple boxes. The Widowmaker squad finished it off and also killed my Wayfarer. The Juggernaut and Kayazy killed off my Wights, and the Mechanics did some repairing. One Kayazy sidestepped into my zone, but nothing could get to my flag. The Score went to 1-0 Circle. Bradigus rocked up, shot a jack to death with rocks, a mechanic and killed a Kayazy with Rift. My Watchers punched some more Mechanics to death, my Wight killed the Marauder and my Guardian killed the Juggernaut. Stones all went into super defensive formation. I scored 2, going to 3-0 Circle. My opponent had a pretty cool turn here. Karchev cleared the Stones off the Marauder on the right. It charged in trying to clear up Shifting Stones for the other Marauder but left one on 1 box. The Widowmaker Marksman tried to put 3 into the fresh Stone in the lane but it got Shield Guarded. The Forge Seer advanced and rolled an 11 for damage, killing the Stone. The Widowmakers took out the 1 box Stone in the way and a Mannikin. The Marauder connected with my Guardian cause I left it within 5" of the Marauder... Thankfully didn't kill it. A Mechanik ran into my zone. Karchev scored the right zone, going to 3-1 Circle. I killed the Mechanik in my zone, the Marauder in front of my Guardian and then Brad threw a Rock at Karchev, a Rock at the Marauder and then a boosted Battering Ram at the Marauder, pushing it outside of 4 of the flag. I ran the Gobber Chef around onto the other flag, a Shaper onto my own flag. I scored 3 going to 6-1 Circle. Victory to the Circle!

Do you feel the karachev match up would have been more advantaged to you if you had a 3rd heavy in the brad list?

Alright, some batreps! I have 3 so they'll be somewhat quick, again. Worry not though I have a game coming up I'll break down in depth. I played vs some Magnus2! I won first, ran up and stuff. He ran his stuff up somewhat carefully. I forgot to take a photo here I'm sorry. >: Orin shimmied behind some jacks, but due to the wall couldn't get all of them. The Mangler went wide on the right flank. In my turn I TK'd a bunch of jacks, shot one to pieces and also killed Orin, Eiryss and Lanyssa with Sentries / the Fulcrum. Megalith toed the right zone with Undergrowth up to keep him safe, and a stone behind him to stop him from getting Thunderbolted. In Magnus' turn the Renegade ran, and Magnus Obliterated the Stone behind Megalith, killing it. The Thorn Gun Mages advanced and Thunderbolted Megalith out of the zone. My Sentry Stones on the left and right died to Nomads but I was alright taking that trade. The Mangler crushed my objective. Score went to 2-0 Magnus. Pretty neat turn here. Krueger walked left, TK'd the red Nomad out from behind the Obstruction and TK'd my Guardian. He also took a gun shot. Hunter's Mark went on the left one. My Warden and Megalith got told they were strong (Guardian didn't really need the help here). Megalith killed the Nomad on the right, Warden, guns and Guardian killed the 2 Nomads on the left and also the Fulcrum and a Wyrd helped shoot the objective to death. Krueger sat behind his fortress of Wolds. One Stone ported into my opponent's zone, with the other staying back ready to do the same next turn. The Fulcrum also missed Taryn but I believe he did kill 2 Gun Mages. The Score went to 3-2 Krueger. Magnus dropped Escort. Taryn walked up and Shadow Fired a wold in front of Krueger. The Thorn Gun Mage just ran to be in an annoying place. Aiyanna kissed Megalith and Holt took some shots at Krueger, one got Shield Guarded and Krueger transferred the other. Magnus walked forward and feated on most of my army. The other Thorn Gun Mages advanced and Thunderbolted Megalith into threat of the Mangler. Megalith and my Stone got obliterated by the Mangler & Kayazy. The Score went to 3-3. My Shifting Stone ported into the middle of both Kayazy and a Gun Mage. Krueger dropped a Lightning Storm on it, killing all 3 and feated. My Fulcrum killed the Gun Mage in my zone and Taryn. My Woldwarden killed Aiyanna and Holt with a Lightning Storm. My Wyrds put some damage into the Renegade and killed the 1 Gun Mage in the middle zone. Otherwise stuff mostly shimmied. My Stoneshaper down bottom ran into the enemy zone. The Score went to 5-3 Krueger. My opponents army came up and managed to kill the Stone and the Shaper in his zone. The Renegade hid behind the rock. The Score went to 6-4 Krueger. Well, style comes first always. My Warden walked around the rock and missed a boosted TK onto the Renegade. Krueger charged the Mangler and TK'd it out the zone, he also TK'd the Renegade out and hit the TK on Meg. The Wayfarer walked up and put Hunter's Mark on the Renegade. A Strong Guardian charged the Renegade and flattened it. My Wyrd ran into my opponents zone. The Score went to 9-4 Krueger. Victory to the Circle!

I played a game really late vs Coven and only remembered to take 4 Photos, so I'm sorry. I'll break it down roughly: Turn 1: Krueger got first and ran up, so did the Cryx mans. Turn 2: Krueger's stuff carefully shimmied around. Megalith walked up to drop a TK on a seether. Lightning Storm went down. One troll passed 2 toughs and a Wyrd missed him twice. Rebuke went on the right unit of Gorgers (who were too far from the Blood Priestess, otherwise Krueger sandpapered some infantry. Coven put CoS onto Megalith, the Troll who passed 2 Toughs ran to engage Megalith and Kharybdis flattened him. Otherwise the Cryx mostly walked up aggressively, killed some Mannikins and my Grove. The Coven also feated. Score went to 1-0 Krueger as my opponent didn't contest my flag. Turn 3: A Wyrd walked up to Kharybdis (who had IM on him) and killed him by himself. Alright. I misplayed and accidentally pinned a Seether in with a charging Mannikin, meaning when Krueger feated he didn't get pushed away and as a result could walk in the following turn. Krueger feated, some infantry got blown up, and the Seether on the left got TK'd (but like I mentioned I engaged it by accident). Score went to 3-0 Krueger. My opponent killed my Warden with the Seether I messed up on. Otherwise kinda durdled forwards because of Krueger feat. My Engine got Blinded by Stygian Abyss. He contested my flag. Score remained 3-0. Turn 4: Time for shenanigans. I basically had my army kill almost every model contesting my and my opponent's flag. Krueger advanced and shoot Axiara (spelling? The Satyxis solo) to death and then TK'd onto my opponent's flag. My Shaper ran onto my flag. Score went to 5-0. Victory to the Circle! Sorry for forgetting so many pictures.

Last one for just now. Played vs my buddy (same one who plays Stryker1 dub Colossal)'s Kraye. I won first cause I'm a good player and we were off! My stuff ran up! My opponent tentatively shimmied up a bit. Arcane Shield went on the right hand Centurion. He set up so that his stuff was bullying me with his mass of threats, seeing as I can't really get my whole army to go as fast as his whole army. Thankfully, Krueger has a whole suite of tricks up his sleeve. Megalith trampled to the left and threw a Gallows at the leftmost Centurion. Krueger advanced, TK'd it around and cast Wind Storm, effectively cutting 2" off my opponent's threat range as he could no longer apply Beacon to anything relevant. I shot the Centurion on the left to death, but messed up my spacing on the Engine, leaving it within 12" of the Centurion. Thankfully my Guardian could TK Megalith backwards to save him. Otherwise my stuff shimmied and the Grove ported onto my Flag. My opponent had Kraye cast Horsepower, walk outside of Storm Wall and shoot my Grove to death. The Sentinel killed a Mannikin. The Centurion on the right trampled over the last Mannikin, murdered it and then Repositioned to tuck up behind the building on my side of the table. His other models pushed up aggressively. The Cent on the left charged my Fulcrum, killing the Mannikin in the way with an Impact and taking my Engine to 7 boxes. Score went to 1-1. Well, time to Krueger! Megalith got told he was strong by a Shaper, walked up to the Cent on the left and TK'd himself into its back arc. Then he demolished it. My Stones ported far up to my opponent's flag, also catching Megalith in their triangle. My Wayfarer engaged by the right hand Centurion used Phase Jump to get onto my opponent's flag. My Guardian got told it was strong. My Woldwarden advanced towards the Centurion, past the Cover and cast TK on it, placing it out of the cover and spinning it around. He then smacked it twice, hitting both for 0 damage and then hit his Chain Attack, boosting the damage and also slamming him into the building, dealing 9 damage. My Guardian walked up and beat the Centurion to death. My Wyrds and Fulcrum blew up the Hammersmith in the middle. Krueger advanced, feated and cast Wind Storm. I can't remember what he did with his remaining 2 Fury. Score went to 4-1 Krueger. My opponent didn't see a way back into the game from this position and conceded. Victory to the Circle! (also that matchup is horrific for Kraye, Jesus)

Alright so I promised a proper breakdown, so here we are! I'm currently participating in a Vassal tournament and my round 1 opponent was playing Lucant and Orion. His Orion list had a Conflux and 2 Modulators and didn't fancy tangoing with my Lightning Immunity in my Krueger list, so dropped Lucant. I dropped Krueger because I was scared my opponent would call my bluff and drop Orion anyway. Clockwork Legions: Lucant -Cipher -Diffuser -Corollary 5 Recips 5 Eradicators 6 Reductors w/UA 10 Obstructors 2*3 Clockwork Angels 4 Enigma Foundries ADO My opponent won the roll for first turn and I opted to take the bottom side. We deployed: My plan here was the same as it is vs all dumb slow skewy bricks. Set up around the central LoS blocking terrain, use it to artificially reduce my footprint and attempt to completely collapse one flank, using my feat to secure a scenario lead and slowly grind out the game, using control to minimise my losses. I put the Fulcrum on the side that my opponent wouldn't have a hill, and my heavies on the side with Lucant because assassination was definitely on my mind in this matchup. Most Lucant players like to play him up the field. On turn 1 my opponent rocked up with his army, put up Decel and was respectful of the turn 1 threat from the Engine, Stones and TK. Watcher went on Lucant. Nice guy that my opponent was he ran an Obstructor within 10" of my Grove. Krueger threw Rebuke on the Obstructors, cast Wind Storm and walked up. My Fulcrum ran into the zone so it could aim and contest next turn. Megalith threw a Lightning Storm at an Obstructor and cast Undergrowth, but failed to kill. Otherwise my models shimmied for position. I brought the Wyrds in centrally to bother Lucant and stop them getting engaged easily. I forgot to take a picture here, sadly. But basically everything in Lucant's army ran at me and he used his Feat and cast Decel and put up Discontinuity. The Corollary hit an Obstructor, removing Rebuke and allowing them to run. The Angels ran to the hard left and right, engaging a couple models but being outside of Lucant's feat and decel. On my turn I decided I would do most of my shooting before feating, but had a neat opportunity for my feat to push some Angels into a nice clumped AoE formation. So to wit, Megalith advanced, cast Undergrowth, punch 2 Obs to death and used TK on a Recip to turn him around. My Grove ported up. Sentries and 2 Blackclad solos managed to finish off the Angels on the right as well as, with help from the Wyrds, kill 4 Obstructors. My Grove ported up. Krueger activated, advanced onto my flag and feated. His feat hit every model in the enemy army bar 3, it notably pushed 3 Recips into the burning woods, lightning them on fire. One Obstructor on the extreme right, and 2 Angels on the extreme left. The one Angel on the left it did hit though it pushed really close to the other two. He cast Undergrowth as well, Rebuke on the Obstructors and sat on 2. My left hand Mannikins ran, one of them running to have its butt facing my Fulcrum between 3 Angels. The Fulcrum aimed and killed 3 Angels with the AoE and the lightning gun. My Warden advanced and used TK on the frontmost Eradicator. Otherwise I positioned very defensively to try and minimise the damage I would take. My plan for this turn had been to take my free CP (which is mostly irrelevant I think because of how slow this scenario was), kill off the 2 Angel units seeing as they couldn't come back and otherwise use Undergrowth and my feat to buy me board space, wait out Lucant's feat and vastly reduce the amount of damage I'd take in the next turn. I also really wanted to get Rebuke out again to force Lucant to keep Discontinuity on himself, because as long as that was up I had an out just in TK, Undergrowth & 2 Wyrds. I wasn't super fussed about killing Obstructors, they were just going to come back anyway. I definitely didn't want to damage either medium based unit, as they had Vengeance. Score went to 1-0 Circle. So, in my opponent's turn he wasn't able to do too much. One Recip took 6 damage from Fire, another took 2. Discontinuity was upkept. The Enigma Foundries on the right daisychained Obstructors to put one near Lucant. Lucant advanced and smacked one to remove Discontinuity. The Recips used shield wall and set defense. The Obstructors used Shield Wall. The Eradicators charged my Fulcrum, only one made it in and it did 7 damage, otherwise they had shields up and positioned. The Reductors killed a Mannikin. Undergrowth and -2SPD stymied most attempts at aggression here. My opponent couldn't contest my flag. Score moves to 2-0 Circle. Alright well, my opponent upkept Discontinuity and walked up Lucant. Time to teach him the error of his ways. I made 2 Mannikins mostly out of the way, both Sentries went to 3. Krueger flew over the rock in the middle, cast Undergrowth and then boosted a TK into Lucant which landed. He swung on the Recip on 2 boxes, but failed to break armour. So he cast TK on him. Megalith and my Guardian got +2 STR from Shapers. My Stones ported Megalith up, who killed 3 Recips, cast TK on himself to get out of the Guardian's lane and killed 2 Obstructors. Both Wyrds advanced and shot Lucant, who was camping 3 and killed him before I even had to charge my Guardian. Victory to the Circle! I'm quite happy with how I played this game. I knew my outs were to collapse one flank or set up a kill on Lucant, and every turn I played was playing towards both of those win conditions. The 2nd one paid off while I was in the process of executing the first so that's fine. I think even if I hadn't been able to kill Lucant I would have taken over attrition on the right, letting me grind out scenario. Depending on what I rolled on the right flank I could potentially even have gone to 4 CPs in my turn. Glad to see this list has some game vs Lucant, but I'm much more afraid of the 10 Recips & 30 Obstructors build.

Are u ever tempted to run more living beast lists, or are Bones just too compelling? Bones certainly seems to have answers to more problems and asks a few questions too. I feel that living beast circle lists - outside of spamming griffons (which can be predictable for opponents to find an answer for) - seem to be lacking somehow. Maybe it’s just the lack of decent batreps showing their skills.? Thanks again tho for the great write ups and pictures, it’s def the best batrep stream I’ve found anywhere. Really appreciate the explanations of why u do certain moves n what ur thinking when an opponent drops a certain manoeuvre on u. Cheers

Cheers Pretty sure the living beast stable in circle is just not up to par with the rest of the game. Warp-wolves are over-costed, satyrs are ba-a-a-ad, our lights are actually decent outside of the winter argus and the rotterhorn. Bones is just so darn good, its really hard to willingly play warpwolves/satyrs over wolds.

vorage Thanks so much! wolfchild hard to say. I tend to play what's good but Bones is all my favourite circle stuff. Big fan of Wolds. I have played non Bones (in this thread, even!) and have a huge soft spot for both Morvs. I also quite enjoy Mac2, but don't love Una that much. I think Wurmwood in theory is better with Warpwolves than wolds, if the Warpwolves were to get brought to a more reasonable cost (a la Legion CID) then I think you would see him in CotW a lot. Also, thank you for the kind words! macdaddy yup. Sorry for the lack of reports lately. I've played 3 games and forgotten to batrep any of them. >_> Been kinda busy / distracted with real life stuff, watch this space.

Round 2 of my Vassal tournament. My opponent had a really weird Kaelyssa list and then an Elara list with a bunch of Vyre lights and Sentinels. I was expecting to see Elara but I got the weird Kaelyssa list. (Kaelyssa 1) Kaelyssa, the Night's Whisper [+29] - Manticore [14] - Manticore [14] - Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker [4] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios [0(7)] Fane Knight Skeryth Issyen [0(8)] Lys Healer [3] Priest of Nyssor [4] Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (max) [19] House Ellowuyr Swordsmen (max) [16] - House Ellowuyr Swordsman Officer & Standard [0(5)] Houseguard Halberdiers (min) [8] Arcantrik Force Generator [17] I dropped Krueger because it was ret. My opponent took 2nd and the top side. We deployed, on turn 1 I ran up for the most part, set up and put Wind Storm on Krueger. Plan was to have Krueger set up on my flag and just sandpaper down and slowly win scenario, because I could get so far up the board behind that forest I could probably shove Kaelyssa out of the killbox too. Krueger could hide behind the forest and project Wind Storm really well. I killed 2 of my own Mannikins. My opponent moved up somewhat tentatively and feated. Blur went on the Swordsmen, Refuge on Kylie and Banishing Ward on the Halberders. Well, seeing as I'm playing the version of this list with no Speaker (locked into it for the tournament) Kylie's feat is pretty annoying. My Mannikin on the right advanced, tried to shoot Eiryss and missed. Megalith trampled up and threw a Lightning Storm at the Nyss, deviating 4" to the 1 and killing the UA + 1 random Nyss. Krueger advanced and feated, pushing 4 Nyss into Megalith's Storm, shunting stuff around Eiryss so I could get a Mannikin near her and generally just shunting models back. He cast Wind Storm and TK'd himself back onto the flag. My other Warden also deviated 4 to the 1 with Lightning Storm and killed 2 models. I ran a Mannikin near Eiryss, another near a Halb. The one near Eiryss got shot by the big fire gun on the Fulcrum, killing Eiryss and a bunch of models. The e-leap off the other Mannikin killed another Halb. Otherwise stuff shimmied around and stayed safe. My opponent was pretty much bereft of options here due to my feat and Wind Storm. The AFG walked up and killed a Mannikin. Both jacks got a focus from Arcanists, Phantom Seeker went on both jacks. Kylie had to walk up to get in the kill box. They broke a Shifting Stone and did some damage to my right Wyrd from outside Wind Storm (cause of the +2RNG from the AFG). Some minor damage was done to Megalith by charging Nyss. The Score went to 1-0 Krueger. Well, pretty sure I had a >90% assassination on the table here. 2 Mannikins came down. One aimed and shot a Halberdier out of a lane. The other killed the Nyss engaging Megalith. Megalith trampled to the opposite side of the AFG from Kylie, cast Undergrowth, clipping Kylie and used TK on the AFG to move it out the way. Krueger charged a Swordsman, took 6 damage from a Defensive Strike and then boosted a Telekinesis (needing a 6) at Kylie, hitting. He cast Gallows (needing a 4) and boosted Damage, pulling her 1.5" through Undergrowth. I advanced a Wyrd and began to take Purgation shots at Kaelyssa and my opponent conceded. Victory to the Circle! Not much to say here. Don't keep upkeeps on yourself vs Wyrds. Although I think Kaelyssa was dead even without Refuge on her. She should have had Banishing Ward. Krueger is really good at killing casters.
